  1. Pfft, SWP our best player tonight! Lampard is fucking atrocious. Left wing, he's doing exactly the same as he does when he plays the middle. Gets the ball, passes it sideways and runs into the box hoping for the best. Hopefully get Barry on for him soon. I'd have Barton on for Carrick too. ^-^
  2. All gamesmanship in general of course but the one that really gets me going is goalkeepers who take goal kicks from the "other" side to waste time - especially when the ball has already been placed by a desperate forward. Can remember playing Middlesboro on the last day a few years back for a place in europe - Schwarzer was doing it from the start. Twat.
  3. ...and off goes his in form player Milner after an hour of being played out of position... At least he can't bring on Corradi
  4. Shite formation. Players being deployed bafflingly out of position (Milner inside Bentley?!?) Can hardly string two passes together without resorting to an aimless hoof. More effort put in chasing shadows than showing some decent movement. Tamely surrendering as soon as the opposition score. Welcome to my world. PS: Taylor's done alright but Davies has been shite. Could have prevented both goals. Cesc Huddlestone was utter pap too.
  5. Bwahahahaha!!!! What a fucking legend. He's only said what everyone was thinking. Poor old Frankie, can't take a bit of stick. I guess thats what happens when Daddy and Unky Harry gave him his chance at a career on a plate, he's never had it half as hard as most. "..."We got beat in the quarter finals. I played shit. Here's my book." Who wants to read that?" He also suggested Lampard and Gerrard would need two balls to play in the same midfield.
  6. is that a joke? Unfortunately not, it's currently on the breaking news ticker on SSN. I'm glad Foster is getting a game but the rest of the team is fucking atricious. Barry should be in there ahead of SWP. Carragher ahead of Woodgate IMO. Some of the other selections like Phil Chuckle and Dyer are not ideal but excusable given injuries. Plus the midfield is now even worse with Gerrard bumped right. The rediculously ponderous pairing of Carrick and Lampard will be lucky to get within 5 yards of Xavi's shadow.
  7. That midfield is shite. All decent players on their own but theres no balance. Carrick and Lampard are pussies, we'll never get the ball off Spain without more spunk in there. 0-2.
  8. Eh? He's fucking shite! One name that immediately comes to mind when I saw this thread title is Lee Carsley. Seen Everton no the telly 3 times in recent weeks and he's really impressed me. I just read someone's "Worst prem 11" post and he was in it...not IMO. Hardly gets a mention but I thought he was doing a really good job. For City I would say its Distin. Dunne isn't rated by a lot of people but most of the City support thinks the sun shines out of his arse (Won last 2 player of the year awards). Not sure what the word I'd use to describe him is. Great most games but when he's bad he's really, really bad and can make some baffling fuckups. Distin however is much more consistent and we really miss him when he's not fit (Thankfully not a lot - he missed 10 minutes in 03/04 and 04/05 combined). He's not someone I'd describe as top drawer but he's got more than enough in his locker to deal with most things that teams in this league can throw at us. But he's not a spectacular player or a character and he has a reputation as a mercenary so he doesn't get much attention.
  9. I saw the Everton match Milwall were crap. Had one attack and scored. How they managed to beat us and City I'll never know. Seems their luck ran out against Newcastle They beat us on penalties after a 0-0 draw
  10. Millwall put City out...I think they put Everton out too...that is a good result
  11. Don't Terry or Hargreaves need to prove their fitness too? Woodgate (And Dyer) have been consistenly picking up injuries for a number of years...they are not the type of players I would consider taking to a tournament until I think that they are likely to stay fit - and I would need more than seeing them play half a season in 3 to think that. With no tournament this summer, I wouldn't have considered either player this season and just left them to concentrate on playing for their clubs. Terry and Hargreaves just picked up one injury in isolation, it could happen to anyone and apparently they are both returning today? I'm working off the assumption that theyve put their injuries behind them. No serious track record of injuries so I have no problem picking them.
  12. I'd definetly start with Barry instead of Stuart "1 good performance this season" Downing. I'd also pick Terry instead of Woodgate who I don't think should be considered until he proves his fitness over a much longer period. From this squad, I'd go for: Foster (90 mins, the other goalies in the squad are shite) G.Chuckle (Richards for 30) Ferdinand Terry (Carragher for 30) Bridge Lennon Gerrard Hargreaves (Barton for 30) Barry Rooney Johnson (Defoe for 30) Keep the # of subs down ...Aside from getting Richards a game I'd only sub the players coming into the squad half-fit... Lescott is a good shout tho, he definetly deserves a call more than Dawson. And to think I suggested him as a potential target for Newcastle last year
  13. Yes. James was in the World Cup squad. I don't mind "moving on" if the older player was hanging on by his fingernails/being picked on reputation and there is a young player deserving a chance, but James is clearly a million years ahead of the woeful Blobinson. James, Foster and Carson should be the 3 goalies. I'm not sure on players uch as Downing, SWP, Dawson, Jenas and the like. They really shouldn't be in the squad IMO but theyre not going to get a game so does it really matter? Better than training against cones. I can see the merits of keeping Milner back and giving him games for the U21s - better than sitting on the bench. I'm glad Barton has gotten a chance too. I'm not convinced he's England standard as a player but hes got character and I hope he can foster some spirit in the camp - Far, far, far too many players in a comfort zone for England, especially Lampard. I'd start him and Barry and give him and Downing a kick up the arse but McClaren will probably go for Downing-Carrick-Lampard-Gerrard and they'll be shite again...sigh. I don't think Dyer and Woodgate should have been picked myself. Not yet anyway. I don't think we should be considering players with questionable fitness records until theyve played a whole lot more than half a season in 3. Don't want to be taking players to championships if they can't be trusted to stay fit.
  14. He walked out to bat in an England test once, in full gear. Cos he had a helmet on, no-one could tell who it was(wasn't) so he got right past the security into the middle. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/funny_old_game/1496843.stm
  15. Its worse than that mate. Obviously what you've said his true, but whats more - the board clearly didn't want him to do the job, the fans didn't want to take the job (I certainly didn't, and a poll on the Manchester Evening News website said 80% agreed). But he's accepted the job anyway - he's even tried to engineer it with his comments after the game at the weekend which the club had to come out and deny. Its totally disrepectful. > And as for the supposed "benefits" of him taking the job - They're all pointless. Gives him a chance to work with the best young players in the country with one eye on signing them - Whoopee? They're all out of our price range anyway - I doubt you could buy any England U21 player for less than £5m. Gives him a chance to scout the opponents in the summer tournament...he could do that from the stand. He could do a better job of it if he wasn't involved in the coaching setup - he won't be able to see games between other sides if he's looking after England (Not sure what time of day the games will be played at). All the while he's away from City not signing anyone. Pearce Out >
  16. Eh? Don't know how you all feel about losing an important member of the coaching staff in the week leading up to a very tough fixture, but I'm not happy about this at all. I mean, you've just got a new defender involved and your main defensive coach (?) is going to be missing training sessions where he should be getting the new unit ticking? And we're going to be left with Steve Wigley ( ) to get us into shape for Pompey away. Pearce putting an England U21 friendly ahead of City, he can fuck off and take the job full time for me.
  17. I'm sure that Sky Sports News reporter in the studio said that City had tried to get Andy O'Brien ( ) on loan with a view to a permenant deal ( ) but he had turned us down ( ). There are no words. And we tick past midnight....I think we're stuck with Djamel Abdoun and Michael Ball
  18. Id keep it as it is. As a supporter of a club that has good players to sell but no money to buy them from others, its nice to have most of the year away from thought that Micah Richards is going to sign for Chelsea in the morning and whatnot. I also like the way it encourages proper squad management...no more panic buying every time the star striker breaks a nail, I think its nice to see young players given a chance for a game or two or ten. Football is getting pretty boring, I'm glad to see some fresh faces once in a while rather than the same old journeymen being whored about.
  19. I like Robbie Fowler...by the end of his time at City I thought he had adapted really well to losing his pace and was a real class act. He had gotten past his reccuring injuries and was really making us tick - he was the only real forward we had in the team that Pearce inherited and took flying up the table when we missed out on Europe with the last minute penalty save. Good player, I would have the '04/05 Fowler back at City in a shot. BUT, he was, and is, really on his last legs in terms of match fitness. Given the ammount he has played since he left here a year ago (ie, fuck all) he would be a pointless short term signing. Every time he missed a game or two for City, he would come back and play like he'd never seen a ball before...really I think he needs constant games to play well nowadays to keep on top of his fitness/sharpness. If you did sign him, he would be nigh on useless for 3 months, then be really good for the last few games of the season. I don't see the point of it...I'd be extremely suprised if this wasn't a load of made-up bollocks.

    Andy Cole

I think it said West Ham and Everton on the telly before. If he's fit, he's still got it. He was awesome for us last season, even if the way he worked his way out was a bit low after originally moving back up here to be "closer to his family".
  21. Where does this story come from? I've not heard anything on this in days. It's not someone on Glory-Glory in a tree at the training ground with a laptop again is it? Well if you had watched sky sports news last night you would have found out that you lot are "confident" of completing the signing today. That and the fact that Mido was on an Arabic radio station saying he hopes the deal to city can be concluded today. I have a link if you can understand Arabic Hmm...but he's in the squad for the game tonight? Surely Jol will at least want him on the bench with Berbatov out? I can't see how we can be "confident" of doing a deal in such a short period of time. I mean, what if it goes to extra time??? Unless its a loan or we do the formalities before the game I can't see it happening, too late. Still no mention of this story on NewsNow tho, altho there is talk of John Wardle funding a transfer out of his own pocket, Collins John is the name that keeps getting mentioned He's not definatly in the squad and even if he is, it still wont stop him leaving. We played Rasiak in the last day of the last january transfer window then flogged him of to Southampton straight after the match. Youre right about the extra time thing though so i expect the deal to be completed before hand (if it definatly happens). Just reading the thread on gg-chat about this. I'm pretty cool on this transfer - Nothing against Mido as a player, hes decent enough, not keen on having another target man in the side tho, we're too direct as is. He's an improvement on the increasingly woeful Corradi, but I'd rather a forward who makes his money with the ball at his feet(I wouldn't have minded trying to nick Tevez if WH were willing to let him go as they were with his mate). However I am concerned about the side effects of the deal - Not looking forward to having SUPERMIDOMAN11( ) and co jump ship and fill the City forums with all this blinkered shite. Hopefully Ghaly will keep em there for a while. I guess we won't know owt else about this until the game tonight - Jol will probably be asked about it by Geoff Shreeves in the tunnel. PS: The Harewood/Goomba thing was one of F365's lookalikes way back when. It's uncanny, shame the movie isn't better known or he'd never hear the end of it.

  24. Can definetly see why Coleman was more willing to listen to their offer for Boa Morte than he was when Souness came calling a couple of years back...he looks well past it. Another poor signing? Really it doesnt seem as if anyone theyve bought will improve them...I'd be fuming watching this huff-and-puff shite if I was whatshisfacesson. Honestly think Curbs will be lucky to last the season.
  25. Ya...Here's a different picture http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b44/Blue71/NewPicture.jpg You can see the place where crazy mugs chuck money down the drain in the vain hope of one day winning something there...and theres the casino on the left
