ASM on the bench. I know it's supposed to be a feelgood article and so was probably the point, but some of those paragraphs are near vomit-inducing.
-
Sounds like better entertainment value than some PL matches tbh.

Someone might have pointed this out before but Money Mike Ashley follows only one on twitter; a PR agency called KBA (Keith Bishop Association). Under their clients they list both Newcastle United and Sports Direct: https://www.kbapr.com/clients/ In fact, a lot of the brands listed are owned by Mike Ashely (Frasers Group). How I wish I was this far behind.

You literally couldn’t be more wrong about every statement you’ve just made. That wasn’t the first time DeMarco saw that letter, let’s say he may have had an input in a lot of it. Ignore the fan led action bit as it really isn’t. Kennedy probably knows the most out of any journo regarding this (that includes Caulkin) The absolute power post this is if Mimms is actually Kennedy.

Especially for clubs of Man City's stature, would it be at all helpful to set up some links with nearby clubs a few rungs down the ladder for released youngsters to get trials? At the very least, it could help prevent them from feeling like they're not instantly falling in to obscurity? I'd imagine there'd be a fair whack of clubs who would be happy for a streamlined process allowing them to take a look at players that have come through a Premier League academy? That being said, I've never had any actual involvement in the game so this could either already be a thing at many clubs that I've just not heard about, or just plain impractical. Either way it sounds like a better support system should be in place. While Froggy's not wrong in that it is a business for football clubs, it's built on hyping and then crushing the dreams of what will obviously be easily-swayed children/teenagers. Clubs should bear a lot more responsibility than it sounds like they do for the massive influence they have in in a not-insignificant number of young men's formative years. What about something like subsidising and putting players in touch with a mental health professional at the point they're informed they're being let go? Support networks to help them begin to look at other avenues of work? Again, I'm sure Froggy's right that for a lot of players like poor Jeremy Wisten they just wanted to play football and didn't care about other potential roles in the sport. But maybe if there were trained mental health professionals on hand, that may not have been his frame of mind?

Nah, if someone wishes to not believe you then they should just choose too, instead of segueing why. This forum has started to develop an atmosphere where people get on each other’s backs too often in the last few years. I think you should continue to keep us updated as it’s appreciated by a lot of members, if it makes you feel better how about putting your updates in the takeover optimism thread instead? This way people can clearly avoid it if they wish too. Mimms[/member] Sorry like, but that’s f***ing bollocks. If you don’t believe something, you’re entitled to question it and put your opinion in. The vast majority disagree and believe him, that’s fine - but I’m entitled to have my own opinion on it and voice it. You can ask how he’s got his info and why people believe him, but relentlessly having a go is a bit much. Relentlessly having a go? I’ve made about 4 posts to him during a conversation. Jesus wept. You are sick to be fair. I wonder why your kind of people exist in society.

How bad is it looking? Was tempted to stick money on NUFC to win by one after seeing the line up; just feels like one of those days.

I don't normally touch shots on target for that very reason. 1/5 is disgusting. But I'd be on the offer for the sake of a tenner if I hadn't already tapped out my deposit limit on Skybet already this week. So naturally it'll come in.
-
If he does I’d literally put everything I own on that As would most people which is why its sadly tenner max bet. Same thing on for DCL today. Surely?..

Don't know if posted elsewhere but great to see fans of other clubs rolling with this too:
-
All for the sake of a £100 return that wouldn't have caused a blip on Ladbrokes' radar. So shit.

I was just curious as I knew he was well-known for not hanging around too long. But to be a manager for thirty years and this to be his longest club stint seems crazy. Who knows, maybe the age is a positive. I'd be sick to death of starting over every year or two by the time I'm 65.
-
Sounds like the makings of a teenage romcom.
-
Wow. This made me check out his history and he's only six games away from this being his longest managerial stint at any club. Only jobs he's been in longer in calendar year terms were his Argentina and Chile national team stints.
-
Good thing he's a sound bloke or I'd really hate him.
-
Maybe he's smarter than the average footballer. Maybe he sussed that certain behaviour would be appreciated by Rafa. No argument. He's not stupid and it's obviously based on a certain amount of self-preserveration. Doesn't make the change in tune any any less irksome for me personally, though. Even ignoring whether it's just Lascelles being savvy, I just find it yet another indictment on the club's management structure. Under Rafa the players, whatever their role or age, were free to speak their mind, show and build on their leadership. Under Bruce they're just an extension of him; a mouthpiece for the bare minimum mediocrity the club embodies.
-
I just find it ironic that one of the reasons he found himself in such a prominent position in the team was because he called out bullshit but now needs to toe the party line whilst in that prominent position. I imagine that's what makes it grate on people more than when the likes of Shelvey trots out his nonsense, which everyone has pretty much come to expect.

Thought doing an FA Cup one might be interesting based on who knocked out Wanderers the second year then go from there and see how different the list of winners would look. But the first two years seemed to just lead to the eventual FA Cup winners anyway so I got bored and gave up.
