All of these were for outside reasons and/or top, top players. Pique being the exception, young player, not getting a shot that season, and wasn't taking a step down in leaving. These are just Fergie's fringe players, the majority of the players mentioned clearly were still exceptional talents, but sold for reasons other than purely their footballing ability.

Can't see anyone trying to justify giving him more years on his contract. Just don't think there's any point selling him unless he truly becomes a disruptive influence. But none of us will really know what effect it'll have. If he's not happy being on the bench so soon then that's a different argument all together. But if he's willing to be a team player, why ditch him?

Tbf, I can't remember there being widespread joyousness at all of those. And wasn't there more apprehension than 'great deal' about Tiote considering quite a few on the forum didn't know a thing about him?
