If you believe everything you read in the papers our reserves could be contenders for the top 4 by february 1st. Frankly, its a little silly. We even rejected Ronaldinho according to the Independent. We had plenty of half chances- good crosses nobody got on the end of, people having a great opening to shoot and trying to walk it into the net instead all that sort ofthing. Yakubu hit the post and McFadden had one off the line. They scored a cracking goal, the lad will probably never do it again. I don't begrudge them the win though. Their team were more up for it and their support was very good. Just shown the goal, pretty good. Did you play a weak team? Yeah. We rested a few, played our dodgy foreign keeper and played a few players in their first game back from injury. I'm more annoyed about it being Oldham that beat us rather than being gutted about going out of the Cup. Didn't he turn you lot down when you tried to sign him permanently? It's unclear whether it was him, his 3rd party owners or we simply didn't have the cash. The tabloids and local papers were wanting to hang, draw and quarter Fernandes for being a liar who snubbed us but Moyes and Irvine both later said something along the lines of us not being able to get a deal done. So... fucked if I know what went on. What I do know is that he's a massive talent. If Moyes got the best out of him then he'd be a genuine top class player.
