    Sven Botman

Meh, defenders lose headers all the time, it happens when the delivery is excellent and the attacking team are very good aerially, it was just a very good goal IMO. I'm more interested in his overall performance, which I thought was superb.
  2. We shouldn't be cashing in on him, but the goal should be to replace him with a better player so he becomes a sub and the squad depth improves. Maybe Ramsey is that player, time will tell.

    Nick Woltemade

He'll be far more useful on the ground in games where we're on the front foot. He stands basically no chance when he's parked on the halfway line for the majority of the match.
  4. Barnes has been getting pelters on here this season, but I much prefer him to Gordon. At least he looks like he has some kind of idea of what he wants to do on the ball, even if it hasn't come off for him in recent matches. Gordon looks like he has no idea what he is trying to do whenever he gets it and often just "Willocks" with it until he loses it. Needs to just keep it simple for a while.

    Tino Livramento

I'd normally think the fact he played on for a bit after the challenge and didn't immediately get stretchered off was a reassuring sign that it was just a twist or something, but Botman played about 5 weeks with a disintegrated knee so fuck knows
  6. It did aye. It evidently wasn't the right system to switch to today though.
  7. Probably the only examples of us looking good with it though, to be fair, and we had two actual wingbacks on the pitch iirc. It's functional in a cup when you want to grab an away clean sheet or you have a decent aggregate lead and the other team needs to come on to you, but I'd rather not see it in a league game personally. I also think a lot of the better teams are more equipped to breakdown a low block this season.
  8. We're running on fumes at the start of the game a lot of the time, never mind the end of the game. Bruno and Joelinton were running through treacle after 10 minutes today.
  9. By the far the worst I can remember us playing against one of the big teams at home in recent years. Where was the aggression? Why did we sit back and play so passively, even more so in the second half? Why are we starting Burn at left back again? Aye we were fucked by that handball decision, but we got what we deserved across the whole match for me. Really really poor.
  10. Kind of asking for it finishing the game with 4 centre halves on the pitch and Dan Burn at LWB. Can we sack that formation off now please?
  11. I don't see how anyone can think it's a penalty once you have the accompanying knowledge that he touches the ball. That is literally the keeper's job in that scenario.
  12. Burn vs Saka is absolutely painful to watch. He didn't have the legs to play this position two years ago, never mind now against one of the best wingers in the league.
  13. We look miles off the pace mind. They are much better than us all across the park at the moment.
  14. Surely that's the same thing? He touched the ball, regardless of how it came to be.
  15. Take the black and white specs off, and they look like they have more than enough to stay up to me. They've got momentum and they've also got the key components right that promoted teams in recent seasons have completely fucked up - mainly being solid and hard to beat, while also being capable of pinching a goal against the run of play. That will get you midtable in this league tbh.
  16. Yeah, in a world of clichés. Champions rarely look as iffy as they have in basically every game this season.
  17. Liverpool aren't going to keep riding this wave of luck and late goals forever. They won't win the league this season unless they improve massively.
  18. As obvious a red as you could ever get that, VAR is absolutely pointless
  19. Doesn't need it. The more energy Sandro expends, the more energy he generates. He's like a Jack Russell.
  20. Always a bad idea to keep looking at your ex's Facebook page after a breakup lads. He's going to score loads for them. Expecting otherwise is folly.. "Move on", to quote @Rich who is well known for saying that phrase all the time.

    Joe Willock

I think it's more that he's just forgotten how to do the things he was doing well three seasons ago tbh. That Willock would still look good in this team. Now he tries to do too much on the ball and does too little off it. Such a stark contrast that it's hard to see him ever regaining that form.
  22. We are. The criticism seems hyperbolic after an away draw against the team currently sat third in the league though, especially given that they stuffed us 4-1 at home only a few months back; a scoreline that flattered us.
  23. My post you quoted said the beginning of the season was going to be transitional, not the full season.
  24. We've got points away at Villa and Bournemouth, two of the more difficult places to go in the league - especially for us. Only the Leeds result is a bit iffy. Coming into the season, circumstances taken into account, anyone sane would've said 9 points from those first 5 fixtures would be the realistic limit. We're not exactly far off the pace.
  25. After losing one of the best strikers in the league? Aye, I expected that we might have a slow start like Especially since we habitually start seasons playing badly under Howe. The majority of the players we signed are either unavailable or fresh to the league.
