I like this idea, let's get a campaign going.
-
Well, I think we've got enough strikers already at the club to cover the 'horror' genre. We've got a few who cover comedy as well... And Stephen Ireland's head-shape was bordering on sci-fi while he was here.
-
The majority of our fans buy it, so why wouldn't any selling clubs?
-
I actually think there is money to spend. The whole "LOOK! Agent fees! Signing on fees!" has been made so public that I reckon the club are putting those statements out there so other clubs don't think "they've still got the Carroll money left" and try to get extortionate fees out of us. Genuinely don't believe Mike Ashley and Lambias give enough of a fuck to make excuses in front of the fans - it's not like their bridges can be burnt any further than they already have been.
-
Definitely the funniest thing Jon has ever posted. Definitely.
-
Making Coloccini captain doesn't put us in the Champions League next season so I'd say no. Obviously, but at the same time, with them being amigos, Enrique might feel obligated to help him.
-
The only choice, really. Will be interesting to see whether this has any impact on Enrique's mindset.
-
I don't think I've ever laughed at a single thing Colocho has contributed on this forum.
-
Gardner and Larsson look like decent signings to me - especially when you consider how little Sunderland's midfield contributed last season in terms of goals. Wickham could go either way, but potentially he could rake them in a fortune a year or two down the line.
-
Which youngster are you most excited about for the future?

He's getting at the fact that each of the players have at least one vote each. Keep up, David. -
To trick the player into signing the contract under the impression that he has a reasonable release fee if another club comes in for him? It sounds mental but I can't think of any other reason for it.
-
Lightweight? That looks solid as a rock to me. Had the same reaction to that. Not sure how that trio looks lightweight.

I'd be perfectly happy with that as long as we were replacing them with world class superstars like.

03:45... The shake of the head says so much more than the words.
-
In terms of ability? Cabaye?
-
Will be disappointed if he leaves, but even though I'm a fan of his I couldn't see how he was going to fit into the team next season based on the snippets we've read about the kind of system Pardew's wanting to play. He's turned out to be one of the best signings we've made in the last ten years, which I don't think ANYONE expected, and we have an awful lot to thank him for, but with all the changes taking place at the moment it's probably a decent time for him to move on.
-
We're two weeks into the window man, and we're at least being "active" which is more than some people expected. Let's see what our squad looks like in September before we start slashing our wrists. No matter how much money is available we're obviously going to struggle to attract the likes of Gameiro considering we were just promoted a year ago and can't offer European football... Cabaye and Ba could potentially be very shrewd acquisitions to push us on to the next level so that next season we can hope to attract a higher calibre of player. Ba is a risk, obviously, and I'm sure the club are aware of that - as Hughesy says I doubt we're resting our hopes on him alone. Having £30,000,000 in the bank isn't going to rectify the damage that has gradually been inflicted on the club since SBR left - I feel like we're moving forward but there isn't going to be a quick-fix.
-
I get that he's thick as pigshit, aye. Not really.
-
I can't believe that, six years later, people still don't "get" James.
-
Eh? What have (ridiculously inflated) transfer fees got to do with it? Ba will be on high wages (higher than Carroll was, I'd wager) and has a goal scoring record that more than matches anything Carroll has produced in his career to date... If he's leading the line next season it will be his responsibility to replace Carroll's goals if he starts the majority of our matches, and rightly so.
-
A 1 in 2 goalscoring record? Really? Doesn't like a 1 in 2 goalscoring record. Looks like 1 in 3 for club and 1 in 10 for country. Either way, how does that compare with what we've currently got at the club? Better or worse? That's surely the marker of whether he'd be a good signing? If there's £8-10m to spend on a striker, i'd rather it be spent wisely, to be honest. Depends what he offers; Bellamy was hardly prolific but his all-round game transformed us dramatically... Stats don't always do forwards justice. Which is why I acknowledged that i've never seen him play - as far as I know. We need a replacement for Carroll, who gave us goals. I'm guessing that would be Ba's responsibility.
