  1. What a shower of shite that was The softest of penalties covering up what was, under the circumstances, a poor derby effort. Not at the races in the first half, and while it was good to see plenty of endevour in the second there was little to cheer about. Ameobi and Butt should be charged with fraud for calling themselves professional footballers... Harper 6 Taylor 6 Colocini 5 Bassong 8 Jose Enrique 6 Jonas 7 Nolan 7 Butt 4 Duff 5 Ameobi 4 Carroll 6 Very few positives other than Bassong, Jonas and a solid debut for Nolan. On the performance it was a point gained, but we really, really needed all three against a very poor mackem side.
  2. If that's not the winner, it's at least a finalist!
  3. Yeah I mean whats 11 years like I'm sure his accountant can tell you what 11 years at the Toon is worth
  4. Correct, I'm not from the area. Yet I've still seen him take the huff from us twice, and Man Shitty, and En-ger-land... etc And thank you for proving my point about the blinding glare of his halo the stuff i said was a joke, i agree with your post. thats just the usual shit that gets thrown back at anyone who dares question keegan. My apologies - I briefly considered the "etc" to be a kind of safety wink, too

  6. That whole argument - "people believe Keegan because he walked out" is specious, verging on ridiculous. What the argument you've proposed boils down to is "people believe Keegan because Keegan said it, and if the Messiah said it, then it must be so" Contradictory quotes can be produced on both sides, but how do the Keegan lovers/Wise haters explain Keegan saying he was happy work with Wise (when Wise was appointed) with the LMA-issued claim that Wise undermined him when he left? As far as I'm concerned, the glare from Keegan's halo is blinding a lot of people. What's wrong with the simplest and most logical answer: that the serial bottler bottled it?

    SHEARER

This And this. This too. NG makes a good point. So does hakka And stalker makes a good case too. In summary - not going to happen. There's more chance of Keegan, or me, or Big Foot taking over at the moment...
  8. Because Ashley might pop into his office and say "I'm changing your job description. Sorry son, but times are desperate, and it's just for four months"
  9. A fair call talent and results wise - but JFK shades him thanks to his wealth of "moronic press bonus points" EDIT: I notice mrmojo made exactly the same point
  10. If I was Shearer I'd be more likely to try to bring us back to the Prem, than oversee us being relegated from it...
  11. Yup, this is insane, but it's also possibly our best option. Kinnear must go, decent replacements would need their heads read to come here right now and as BigTron suggests he has to carry some responsibility (how much we don't actually know) for our current situation, so we may as well give him the chance to win the plaudits. For those who are whole-heartedly against the idea, could you please argue why? In a reasoned and factually-based manner? Ie without hysteria and hyperbole?
  12. "Oldtype has apparently never met Jurgen Klinsmann" But you're right, Gerrard is indeed one of the worst divers in the English game... [Puts tin hit on] ... with the Newcastle #10 not that far behind
  13. I know you're taking the piss, but I reckon there could be a kernel of truth to it... Maybe that's an interesting debate to divert us - would you rather have Clarkey of JFK?
  14. Didn't Ashley compare Kinnear to Fabio Capello a month or two ago, going so far as to say he'd rather have JFK as NUFC manager? (Or is that my failing memory) If that is the case, doesn't that really say it all?

    Uh-oh!

Hasn't it already been confirmed that Xisco can't be sold this window on account of him already playing for Depor and Newcastle this season? In other words, isn't this merely speculative (misinformed, mischevious etc) bullshit?
  16. For those asking whether a 20 year old keeper is entitled to desire a starting position in the Premier League, may I ask how old Shay Given was when brought to Newcastle...? And should those people retort that there's only one Shay Given, well, what about Casillas, or Buffon (whom Krul has been compared to)? No contest for me - keep Krul, and show the lad some faith. Oh, and as for saying it's not appropriate to air dirty laundry in public, well, given the turmoil in the decision-making hierarchy, maybe he's asked for assurances and been given half a dozen different answers...?

    Jason Culina

Yep - my concern is that he really blossomed under Hiddink, but how would he go under the stewardship of a more mediocre manager? For me, he's one of maybe three or four Australians worthy of playing for (my ideal) NUFC... Who are the others, out of interest? Marco Bresciano is (imo) Australia's best player who I would love to see at Newcastle, can play on either flank but is best suited as an attacking midfielder. And I'm a big fan of Josh Kennedy, who I think would be well suited to the EPL. Brett Emerton might be getting on a bit (and we're well set on the right) so he counts as a maybe

  19. There's a book by some guys called Karl and Fred you should read
  20. Someone email Joe the link to the "Media Hate" thread so he can reference his arguments better next time
  21. Yes and so is the UK. I wouldn't go to Australia to have my ankle looked at just like you wouldn't come to the UK to have your ankle looked at. Anyway, I'm not talking about the NHS. Can you imagine a footballer on a six month waiting list for an operation? People are talking bollocks. Private e.g. BUPA hospitals (like the one's who do all the player medicals for transfers) is where these players go. Are people trying to tell me the UK isn't one of the top 10 countries for medicine? Don't be silly. oook... im telling you, UK is not one in the top 10 countries in the world.... when it comes to medicine Beat me to it. LoveIt - I would have thought the might have signified I was being somewhat facetious, taking the piss out of your ingorance and jingoism. Of course professional sportsmen get private medical attention. I was just amused by someone from a nation of mediocre health care trying to dismiss the average health care found in said sportsman's home country.
  22. I'm pretty sure you forgot to put a wink at the end of that
  23. The way Taylor is playing these days... Look, it's a rare day that we don't have anyone that can play at right back (didn't Geremi fill in there once or twice at Chelsea?) but that's where we are. Sign him for the term of Kinnear's contract And yes, the depth of the squad is poor - but the Wise/Vetere team did fill in several key positions when you add up the likes of Tozer, Kadar, Soderbergh, Zamblera, Ranger et al - you could say the only positions they haven't addressed yet are the ones we need right now. (But that's me being facetious - please don't be wound up by this)
  24. well its quite easy to explain, the best possible care, is usually found abroad... what did you think? that all of the best doctors/physios in the world live in england? dream on m8 and its probably cheaper as well to send them abroad To be fair, there are far better medical systems abroad if you have the cash imo. I'm sure our players could afford to go private. Yes I know other countries will have top doctors/physios but come on, a shoulder injury requires a South American doctor? It's not like they're going for a new, experimental treatment. I agree to a degree, but for some things, some specialists mean you need to go abroad. I agree with what you say but isn't it funny how all these specialists happen to be in the home country of the injured player (or in Martins case, where he used to live). The likes of going to see Dr. Richard Steadman for knee injuries I can accept. Mate, you are aware Australia is a first world nation aren't you? Fancy a chat about NHS v Medicare? Besides which, it's common sense to go to a doctor you trust, with whom you have had positive results previously. But the sad truth is that the closest epithet for Viduka came from djmattis: He is indeed finished as a top class footballer - even the Arab leagues would ask too much of the big fella these days. Was he finished when he left Boro, hmmm... maybe. He put in a few good performances, but simply not enough. It was a gamble, it failed - to all the haters, who do you hate? Viduka for accepting the contract offered to him? Roeder for making the gamble? Shepherd for backing Roeder's relatively inexpensive bet?
