Spain are like Man City 2010/2011. Great squad but are hamstrung by conservative tactics and mentality. Mandzukic is absolutely quality, him and Modric did themselves proud.

Probably because the main reasons for Barca and Real's ability to change the pace of a game in a second are not Spanish and Spain don't have equivilants. The equivs are too pedestrian/similar to those already playing. The only player that goes beyond Torres is Silva, they just seem more focused on keeping the ball and tiring the other team out than actually trying to create opportunities which is baffling because they have the capability to rip any side in this competition to pieces. There's absolutely no need for Alonso in the side.

There's absolutely no reason why Spain should be so ultra conservative. They have the best players in the world and choose to spoil the game by grinding down the opposition, rather than playing the football we know they're capable of because we see it every week at Barca/Madrid.
