  10. Feyenoord take case to CAS Feyenoord have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against their exclusion from the UEFA Cup. The CAS ruling will be of particular interest to Tottenham, who had been granted a bye to the last 16 of the competition after being pitched against the Dutch club prior to their exclusion. The Eredivisie outfit were thrown out of the competition by UEFA following a major crowd disturbance during their group phase match away to French side AS Nancy. The CAS said in a statement released on Monday that their final decision will be announced on February 9 at the latest. The statement read: "Feyenoord Rotterdam has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision of the UEFA Appeals Body of 25 January 2006. "UEFA has excluded the Dutch club from the UEFA Cup 2006-07 and has fined the club following the incidents which occurred during the UEFA Cup match AS Nancy v Feyenoord Rotterdam on 30 November 2006. "The Dutch club has requested the annulment of the UEFA decision. The CAS has proposed to both Feyenoord and UEFA to conduct an expedited procedure in order to render a final decision on 9 February 2007 at the latest. "A procedural calendar will be established very shortly. The date of the hearing will be fixed later this week as soon as the three arbitrators (judges) constituting the Panel have been appointed."

  12. Ireland manager Steve Staunton named seven uncapped players on Tuesday in a 24-man squad for the Euro 2008 Group D qualifier in San Marino on Feb. 7. "I knew when I took the job that there were young players with the potential to play senior international football," Staunton said in a statement. "It is up to them now to show me that they should be in the starting 11." Charlton Athletic reserve goalkeeper Darren Randolph is among those with a chance to win their first cap as usual keeper Shay Given is out with a groin injury. Also missing with hamstring injuries are Charlton midfielder Andy Reid and Reading's Kevin Doyle. Returning after lengthy recoveries from injuries are Levante's Ian Harte and Newcastle United's Stephen Carr. Ireland are fifth in the seven-team group. Squad: Goalkeepers: Wayne Henderson (Brighton & Hove Albion), Nicky Colgan (Barnsley), Darren Randolph (Charlton Athletic) Defenders: Steve Finnan (Liverpool), Ian Harte (Levante), Paul McShane (West Bromwich Albion), Richard Dunne (Manchester City), Stephen Carr (Newcastle United), John O'Shea (Manchester United) Midfielders: Jonathan Douglas (Leeds United), Lee Carsley (Everton), Kevin Kilbane (Wigan Athletic), Stephen Ireland (Manchester City), Darron Gibson (Royal Antwerp), Alan Quinn (Sheffield United), Stephen Quinn (Sheffield United), Stephen Hunt (Reading) Forwards: Damien Duff (Newcastle United), Aiden McGeady (Celtic), Robbie Keane (Tottenham Hotspur), Andy Keogh (Wolves), Anthony Stokes (Sunderland), Stephen Elliott (Sunderland), Shane Long (Reading)
  13. http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl/hi/pop_ups/07/uk_politics_enl_1170159528/img/1.jpg I'm not sure which one of those is the Casino "The casino would be based at Sportcity in the Beswick area, close to the City of Manchester Stadium. The proposed site will also contain an entertainment complex with a range of facilities such as a multi-purpose arena, a swimming pool, an urban sports venue, restaurants, bars, a nightclub and a hotel. " The most unrealistic photoshop job ever. There''s blue sky ffs, it always rains in Manchester. FACT is that the side of the stadium on the left?
  14. you have forgotton about Liverpool
  15. good bit of info from nufc.com Stars in stripes The arrival of Oguchi Onyewu to Tyneside means that he will become the first full USA international to play for us - but by no means the first American on our books: Brad Friedel - Born in Lakewood, Ohio and signed by Kevin Keegan in 1994, this 'keeper was never able to appear for our first team due to our inability to gain a work permit for him. Jimmy Crawford - although brought up in Dublin and signed by the Magpies from Bohemians in 1995, this midfielder was actually born in Chicago, Illinois. Giuseppe Rossi - Our now-departed loan striker from last year hails from Clifton, New Jersey, although he chose to accept an U21 international callup from Italy, his father's native land.
