Norwegian from Oslo to Edinburgh you can get for as low as £60 round trip, usually it's more like £100-£120 there and back, but still cheaper than £300-£600. Then the bus fare from Edinburgh to Newcastle is surprisingly cheap, around the £6 mark, making it £72 there and back in plane/bus money. British Airways (I belive that's what you usually take) rapes your wallet. djmattis........ I was just about to mention the Edinburgh route as well.
