  1. Des - you're overlooking the simple truth here. He's not paid to deal in facts. he's paid to deal in opinions.
  2. But surely that would be 50% of absolutely fuck all anyway?
  3. Oh well, I think that would be more because Oldham is a nothing club and we are the 8th biggest club in the world. Like.
  4. Shurrup man, there was plenty hoo-har about Lee Hughes at the time.
  5. A very good article, all told. I mean, it's a rant. But it's a principled rant. Football has no morals.
  6. Close... Simple but effective. Just like you. Signaturised.
  7. I'd love to have two players whom we can refer to as Zig and Zog. Oh but that would be just grand though, wouldn't it, Ted?
  8. Gokham Inler Per Ciljan Skjelbred Kevin Monnet-Paquet Stephen Warnock Marek Suchy Julio Baptista Jose Antonio Reyes Nicola Burdisso Fabricio Coloccini Philippe Senderos those are the ones from nufc.com's Rumour list for July that could maybe have some substance in them - some more than others...
  9. The first rule of Giants' Club is you don't talk about Giants' Club...
  10. Zigic. Nailed on. Absolutely fricking guaranteed.
  11. I know it's a free country, but what you have written is a load of rubbish!! You appear to have no notion whatsoever of what it is like to be a "dedicated / obsessed / realistic / delightfully unrealistic / dreaming / hoping-against-hope" Newcastle United supporter. You would not last five minutes in the good company that I have kept for nearly 40 years of going to the match!! Nothing against accountants (I know some) but are you an accountant? I would not last 5 minutes, how's that like, you going to crush us under your scintilating wit and piss-taking banter and call us an accountant? No, i'm not but i do travel 1500km 10-15 times a season and spend about 3k doing it to see matches. You think i dont know blind optimism with that investment and level of effort? Its a 2 day round trip for me to go and see the match. That doesnt mean i have to take on the manner of a spoilt 5 year old because things arent going the way i want them to. Thats life. You talk about blind faith and yet you're jacking it in? And i'm talking s****? To be fair, i don't think manorpark was talking about jacking it in. Chez - I did specifically say thet I was NOT jacking it in!!! I am only trying to reflect what I find to be the 'majority views' of my own circle, which (as said) covers a lot of ages and types . . . even accountants, who are LOVELY people . . . you should really be having a dig at the "fairweather fans" who cancel their Sky subscription, and won't fork out for travel a short journey to home games, they're precisely the sorts of wankers you should be having a go at...lightweight glory-hunting "Keegan (first-time round) Bandwagon Jumpers" who are such an embarrassment to the good name of the Toon Army.

    Steve McClaren

Excellent. Now the man who should have had the England job can give a lesson or two to the man who never should have.
  13. I think the rot had set in some time before Souness's arrival, to be blunt. But really - must we keep on going over and over the same old ground again and again. The way this forum keeps going back to the same old same old is just like a dog returning to its own vomit.

    F*ck Spurs

Still too much churn in squad ranks - too many "ins" and too many "outs" ultimately destabilises a squad's ability to gel and play good football. Spurs ain't "all that", basically.

    F*ck Spurs

With a strict wage budget and net spending of £4m this summer I certainly doubt it. Tottenham probably have another £20m to spend, £50m if they sell Berbatov They havent spent a net of 4 at all. They spent 18 on Modric, 7 on Dos Santos, 7 or 8 on Gomes, 18 on Bentley plus the money they spent on Hutton and Woodgate 6 months ago. Plus the 24 they are going to spend on Arshavin. They have gotten 20 back from Keane and like another 15 from their reserve squad. Your figures are appaling. Modric : £16.5 mill Gio : £4.9 rising to £7 mill Gomes : £7 mill Bentley = £15 mill rising to £17 mill Bostock = £700 k Total = about £44 mill out: Keane = £19 mill rising to £21 mill Sunderland trio = £16 mill Robinson = £ 3.5 mill rising to £4.5 mill Total = £38.5 mill Net spend of around £5.5 million so far. You bring up Woodgate and Hutton from 6 months ago, yet you forget that we got £9 mill for Defoe. Our net spend as always been relativly low tbh. And that will always be Spurs' problem imo, and why you won't get anywhere near the big 4. Can't ever see Spurs spend £50m net without also having to sell one or two of their star players such as Carrick, Keane & Berbatov. When you stop and think about it, the huge volume and rapid turnover of playing staff at clubs like Spurs must surely indicate a level of instability and discontent within the club ranks. Hardly what you want as a key ingredient for long-term success, is it?
  17. Apparently Baines isn't good enough for Everton (if you believe that gossip column above)...yet we're perfectly happy to take the Toffees' rejects. Way I see it either (a) the story is shite (b) the player is shite in which case (a) we won't get him (b) we should steer well clear.
  18. In which case you must be fucking minted, or just completely unaware of how hard the economy is biting some people. Cloud cuckoo land, tbh. To be fair you've needed to have quite a few quid to spare to attend football matches for years now, it's not a new thing. People who could afford it last year will in general be able to afford it now IMO. Obviously agree some will be tipped over the edge by the cost of living at the moment like. Yeah I appreciate it's not a new thing Dave. But I think a lot of people, saddled with fucking huge credit card debts, mortgages they could barely afford at the best of times, and facing spiralling energy and fuel prices may well have reached their tipping point. I earn a decent wedge like, but I'm having to cut back on loads of things I once considered essentials but are now merely luxuries.
