I take it you just completely ignored the lanes, the pavilion and the coastline when you were in and around Brighton then? Have you actually been there? The lanes are full of moody jewellry shops, the beach is a pebble beach meaning those in the NE are far better and the Pavillion is somewhere you'd only ever visit once, at most . If that's the best you can do then it says everything tbqh. A city centre needs to be functional and the lack of a proper department store renders Brighton second rate. Why would you travel to Brighton to go to a department store ffs. This is the sort of daft attitude my mam used to have when we went on holiday. In the middle of a beautiful market and she'd be scoping out the city for a Marksies, it's pointless, why are you even on holiday and what are you on holiday from? Who said anything about 'travelling' to Brighton to go to a department store? You envisaging someone packing a suitcase in the forlorn hope of finding a Johnny Lewis in Brighton? The whole point of city centres having department stores is that local people can get loads of stuff under one roof. Otherwise they wouldn't have existed for yonks. They're basically the shopping equivalent of a city centre fulcrum. Can you imagine Newcastle without Fenwicks or John Lewis? They're a massive draw to people and a big reason many choose to shop in the city rather than locally or at out of town retail parks. Anyway, Matt Ritchie, great buy..........think he's going to tear up pre-season and get us off to a flyer. Then go home and make a list of stuff he needs to buy at the local department store with his missus the following day. -
I quite liked him. Hope he bombs.

Fenwick in Newcastle is quite possibly the best shop in the world man! Yep. -

Wrong tbqh. You can't beat John Lewis and Fenwicks. Every city should have them. -
This is that infamous Benitez planning in action iyam. He's already planning for the time without the Chancellor.

Can't take Brighton City Centre seriously when it doesn't even have a proper department store FFS. Just a poxy little Debenhams. Not to mention it's full of dope fuelled hippies thinking it's 1968, has little nightlife and is a clusterfuck of little lanes full of shit shops. -

Like most of the south coast. I lived next to Brighton for 5 years and it's shite tbf. Some parts of the south coast are lovely though, in particular the small villages dotted around the place. There's not a city centre in the south (London aside) that can compete with the city centre's in the North like Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool etc. -
Agree. I don't think there'll be much trouble at all in Russia though. Putin et al won't allow it. They've literally just spent 2 weeks in France slaughtering everyone Russian police and security will have it on severe lockdown you'd imagine plus there's going to be nowhere near as many foreigners there to rampage on. They'll probably just stick to the casual racism and homophobia. Exactly - local police etc will be under strict instruction I would think. Got nothing to do with Putin being a 'Dictator for Good' or any other such fucking shite. Purely that they won't want the embarrassment of being seen to not have control/an ability to run a major sporting event.

We'd not be significantly weaker when we replace Gini tbqh. Sissoko is no loss at all in terms of goals or assists.
-
Don't have a problem with that provided thing guy comes in first. Can't remember what he's like but you'd guess he's no mug given his career to date. Plus players like Bruno have been the best in their position in recent years in the Championship. Yep agreed. Great to have the replacements in first. This is almost running like a proper football club. Pinch myself.

Janmaat must be due to head out then.

I still think we've yet to sign our captain.

Even given the mental prices this summer, that fee still seems a bit OTT to me.
-
Yeah, and I'm desperate to replace my old Ferrari with a Ford Fiesta.

Been linked to Stoke a fair bit. Ah fair enough, not seen too much stuff about him. He might kick himself that he didn't force through a move to Spurs if they don't go in for him.
-
The lack of interest in Berahino is quite telling. Big difference from January. I wonder if WBA may regret not taking the offers on the table back then. Looked a lardarse against us at the back end of the season.
-
Wish we'd let him sign for Palace last year.

Yep, I can get the argument he's not a Klopp type of player, and he would definitely be more suited to Rafa's set up, but he's going to have any amount of clubs looking at him right now, he's not going to drop down to the championship when his star is on the rise. He's had a decent tournament but I wouldn't say his star is on the rise particularly. If anything he's underdelivered at Liverpool. I hadn't realised that he'd been heavily linked with other clubs tbh and just thought there'd be a natural synergy between him, Rafa and NUFC. Must admit I'd never really rated him before, but when he's in the Welsh midfield alongside Ramsay he looks quite a clever little player. Not well suited to the pressing game maybe, but I could definitely see him shining under Rafa. Yeah I agree, hence the suggestion/feeling. I reckon he's the kind of player you'd almost have to build a side around but, if you did, he'd be a different level in the Championship. If Rafa fancied him, Allen would absolutely revolutionise the middle of the park for us.
