Thing is, that was the first transfer window in 2 years (I think), that we had signed anyone. I’m not even sure we had a policy anymore after Ashworth left and the Mitchell debacle.

He had lots of technical quality as well in his side tbf.

I’m hoping that part of the recent discussions have involved an agreement about an evolution of style both on the pitch, and in the transfer market. Some of the recent links for players suggest this.

Not sure he blocked the Guehi deal tbf. Palace just wanted money we wouldn’t and couldn’t afford to pay. My main issue with last summer is the drop off in quality between who tried and failed to sign, to who we ended up signing. Elanga in particular.

I am not sure what you mean? I mean there are no excuses next season for anyone at the club (including Howe). If we have a season like this again next year, then he will lose his job. I am not sure there is a scenario where being as bad as we have in the league this year would be acceptable?

Aye, considering his achievements here, the lack of leadership last summer and lack of top quality replacement available, it’s probably the right decision.

I’m pretty confident that Howe will know things have to change. He must have agreed to a change in recruitment and be happy with it, that in itself is a positive.

Glad it’s sorted before the window opens. No excuses for the window or next season.
