The original TSM's days were not fondly remembered as he tried to bring in his own players to replace the Entertainers. But you certainly can't knock his record having won titles with 2 different teams. If he is here to share his experience and AS can remain his own man, it may be a good plan after all. AS with his stature, Dowie providing the modern scientific ways of training and TSM for his wealth of knowledge

Thought this idea was already put to rest ... http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/04/18/1215637/report-newcastle-united-boss-alan-shearer-wants-kenny-dalglish-a

Houghton didn't have the balls to do it and I hope Shearer does. What is there to loose?

Believe Dowie was at the ManYoo vs Villa game and saw Fergie take a calculated gamble by throwing in a 17 Year old reserve striker, Macheda, who as per all fairly tales conjured & scored the the winning goal in injury time. We have our very own potential hero in Nile and desperate times call for desperate measures. Even if Nile doesn't score, for someone with as much cockiness and confidence, it would not do him any harm even if he bombs out during the game. But the upside is immeasurable and I hope our manager with the big cojones bring on Niles.

Considering our current plight and lack of a clarity on issue of ownership, lack of transfer funds, DOF structure etc...who in your opinion is good enough?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1141490/Newcastle-boss-Joe-Kinnear-needs-heart-operation.html?ITO=1490# Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear needs heart operation By Nick Metcalfe Last updated at 1:38 AM on 11th February 2009 Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear Joe Kinnear has been told by doctors that he needs an emergency heart bypass operation, throwing his future as Newcastle boss into doubt. The 62-year-old, who had a heart attack ten years ago while managing Wimbledon, is expected to have surgery this week. Kinnear was taken ill before Newcastle's match at West Bromwich Albion last weekend, and although he wants to return to work the Sun are reporting that doctors want to operate. Assistant boss Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood are set to take temporary charge. Kinnear joined Newcastle in September after Kevin Keegan dramatically quit the club, and despite being written off from the start by certain sections of the media he has steadied the ship at the troubled club to a certain extenct. The Magpies crucially picked up three points at The Hawthorns on Saturday, but are still embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle.

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

Read somewhere it was the wages that killed it. Apparently he wanted 45 or 50k and we are trying to bring the wage bill down. -
Why not? Didn't Boyd's move to Birmingham collapsed over personal terms?
-
IIRC, he was supposed to have signed for us but transfer was called off due to failed medical.

Agree with your point that JFK has a presence about him that Roeder lacked. Whether he is good enough needs to be looked at in other ways : 1. Are we that attractive to "good" or "great" managers? 2. What truly differentiates a great manager from an average one like JFK 3. We are no longer a big name in football and why do we think we can attract the best? 4. The fans & stadium have always been cited as reasons why we are still a big name but conversely, the same reasons also put undue pressure on the manager and the team? 5. With MA in charge, we don't have the clout or funds to buy top players any longer. Why come? 6. We have been spinning from scandal to internal strife for the longest time, where is the stability for a "good" manager to build his team?

from www.spursodussey.com Stop Press! Jonathan Woodgate will not be fit to play in tomorrow's game. Neither he nor Jermaine Jenas made the squad, which will disappoint them on more thaan one front, bearing in mind they both played for Newcastle in the past. Better news though comes in the shape of the fact that Ledley King, Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon have all travelled to St' James' Park.

Tried to Google JFK's Wimbledon signing record and could not find any comprehensive list of the transfers. Some articles claim he was good at picking up unknowns and this could be another of his plus points to MA given that he is not prepared to spend much on us anymore. Just enough to keep things going ....Does anyone have JFK's list of transfers done in his Wombles or other Managerial roles? -
Game is on Sunday. He could just be taking a joy ride to clear his mind and the anti gravitational effects of the plane ride will cure his groin strain.

he'd need some ladders to chin ronaldo and berbatov. being a dirty player doesnt equal being hard. Totally agree. Today's modern player does not respond to bully tactics. They will simply hand in a transfer request. Besides, is Keane really that tough physically or just mental without being able to control himself? Acting tough is not the same as real hard

Well said. Its all about branding, these days

One nice moment of skill to set Zog up but alas it was not to be.....
-
What's the point here ? Just passing comment as they were both together on TV. They both had assists too. Baines with 2 and 2 goal line clearances.

What's the point here ?

I prefer him to Enrique at the moment. He has more physical presence and seem to click better with Zog, Helps both are French

Barton's back next game isn't he? One more game out

Great fighting spirit. Credit to JK for transforming the team. Walking in a Kinnear Wonderland

To come back from 2 down is already an achievement. Walking in a Kinnear Wonderland :celb:
