    Andros Townsend

What I liked about him before we bought him and even more so now, is his character and attitude, he's talented of course and that's important but the character he's shown and the attitude hopefully begins to wear off on others. This type of intangible is what we should be prioritising more our recruitment, Lascelles has this too, Mitrovic is another, I like all three and hope we hang on to them.
  2. Refs sometimes are criminally bad at their jobs, I could see that was a free kick watching the game the the corner of my eye, how doesn't he, he's right on top of it ??
  3. Love Laschelles, good job lad, hoping he can be something good that comes out of this mess this season.
  4. That sums us up perfectly, that's why we are going down, you've got to work the keeper more than that, that's pathetic Colback.
  5. If we win this, we could actually be in with a slim chance of staying up, looking at the remaining fixtures for the other two craptastic teams. No reason at all why we can't win this or shouldn't expect the players to be capable of beating Swansea at home, but we won't, that's almost certain !

The three teams in the bottom 3 spots right now are the 3 teams that thoroughly deserve to go down based on their general play all season. If they all do it's gonna be a tough division to get out of next season.
  7. There's a chance here you know, for a normal club, if we could get another, it's game on for a point. But we are so crap it's not likely.
  8. I still want us to win, don't understand that mentality, why would you want more embarrassment ?
  9. That's never a pen, even though we are crap and would fully deserve it
  10. You could ask the same question of 75% of our games this season.
  11. Over the years I have supported Taylor, I think on occasion he has been unfairly scapegoated by folks on here but tbh he's done now and this performance has been worthy of all the shit he gets. If we renew his contract again, we've only got ourselves to blame for the shit we are clearly in at the back.
  12. It's over after 3 mins, that's why we are going down, we are pathetic
  13. It's over, I think that's it, even if we get a goal back and salvage a point, it's not enough.
  14. Absolutely, the best thing from a club's perspective is that this run of games for Elliot has put a price on his head, some silly club may give us a million or two for what is in essence just an average championship standard GK, he's just had more chances to excel at Newcastle because of the atrocious way we defend. It's more worrying that we aren't developing the likes of Darlow or even Woodman, players that may have some future at the club. If Elliot was our future number 1 then our recruitment was worse than I thought.
  15. It was just the perfect appointment for us, at the wrong time unfortunately, should have happened a month earlier. If he can somehow pull of a miracle here, we could have a very bright future presuming he stays.
  16. That could be the nail in the coffin, the folly of employing a man incapable of doing the job, then not having the balls to sack him early enough, when you eventually get your managerial appointment right. Only got ourselves to blame.

I agree, our fixture list has to be one of the easier ones amongst the strugglers. Winning 3 or 4 of those 5 games, I think will probably be enough, assuming we pick up a few points other places.

    Steve McClaren

I subscribe to the general view that McClaren was a very decent guy but I'm not going along with the "he was treated badly" line. Here's a bloke who had no right to expect to land a PL job, based on his recent CV, which included getting sacked from a championship club at the top of it. He's been handsomely rewarded financially during his time here, and because he didn't walk, will be going away with a tidy compensation. These figures are likely to be well beyond what most of us here will make in 20 years or more of our working careers. The club were being selfless and looking out for itself in making sure the replacement and all his assistants were signed up prior to sacking the man in charge, fearing being in a situation like last year where they had a kit man running the first team. No problem with that at all. If that hurts poor Steve's feeling a little, well to be honest I really don't give a shit. Go work in the media and earn more in a couple of hours than most of will in a month !
  19. For once the club have made a move you've got to congratulate them for, we've been crippled by terrible managerial appointments throughout Ashley's time at the club, compunded by the fact they have shown way too much loyalty to people incapable of doing the job. Hopefully it's not too late for this season to be saved, we've got the players to get out of the mess we are in now we have a manager capable too , it's also our turn to get the "new manager bounce" for once in the derby, which is the biggest since 1990/91.

but none of this is really correct though, maybe the experience bit but certainly not the goals True for Tottenham, but good record for England 3 in 10 games, I'll take that for a left winger. You not think his record playing in the Premier League for a Premier League club is a little more representative of his ability to play for Newcastle, a Premier League club in the Premier League? Or are we lobbing that out of the window and just going with his 3 goals against San Marino, Montenegro and Italy (friendly) as a better sample? How many goals have we gotten from Thauvin, Aarons, Obertan, etc, etc who we've played in that spot, the best has been Perez, who's a bloody striker playing out of position. He's been underused in the extreme at Spuds (why I don't know), he's played only 50 games for them ffs, he's 24 and been there since he was 8! Despite that gets a call up to play for England and impresses and scores goals. I more inclined to believe in him right now the current incumbents, considering who are manager is he's got a better chance of succeeding than Thauvin, Aarons etc will. All fairly irrelevant to what you posted before. I didn't say anything about other players and his ability in comparison. Your post was "I know he's been s*** in the premier league, but he scored 3 for England so I'll take that!!!" My post was "We play in the premier league, so perhaps we pay attention to his PL performances rather than his performances vs San Marino" Love the way you try to spin it so that it makes him sound crap because he scored against San Marino. He came on in that game as a 66th minute sub, and scored 10 mins or so later. His other games were against Montenegro and Poland in World cup Qualifiers. Solvenia, Estonia and Lithuania, the rest of his games were friendlies against Germany, Chile, Italy and Denmark. Considering he's only made 4 starts, the rest have been 60- 70 mins sub appearance the goal scoring record for England is even better. Going back to your original point, there is such a limited sample size to accurately gauge his PL record, but if you are getting picked for England and playing pretty well when you play, you are doing something right, surely ?? FFS this is why I don't post on here very often anymore, people just seem to wait for others to make a point and try to rip it apart, to get a few laughs. Well hope I made your day, I don't have time in my life to fully research every post I make, just thought I would pop on here and say I liked the signing, shouldn't have bothered. Will know better in future.

    Loïc Remy

I like Mitro a lot, but tbh his lack of goals for a striker is something we can't afford right now in our position, we need Remy (or another striker who we can rely upon to put the ball in the back of the net). Vital we get this one "over the line" if we want to stay up IMO.

Agree with this. For a bottom 3 club it's a damn good signing tbh.
