  1. Results went perfect for us for this target today. A win tomorrow and it's game on like.
  2. I tend to agree, and in this day and age, it's so difficult and expensive to find a regular goalscorer. We have one already, would have been great to see if he could have adapted to Rafa's system. But clearly that ship has sailed, if they go up, my biggest hope is we don't sell him to them as he's nailed on to score in at least two games next season. Hope he has a stonking World Cup and a biggish club on the continent stumps up the cash for him, we should absolutely insist on a sell on clause to whomever we sell too, learn from the Thauvin mistake, it's going to be worth a pretty penny I'm sure.

It's Bolton that's the big danger to messing up this end of the season I feel, Brum winning just makes it a 4 horse race rather than 5. If both Bolton and Brum there get one more win each this season, The Mackems are screwed, but it's entirely possible they won't get any, giving them a small glimmer of hope, they've failed all season to take the opportunities others have afforded them though, so still pretty confident that they will drop.

I'm hoping for a Stoke win now, just to inject some life into things at the bottom. Southampton's world has fallen apart, at one point today they were moving out of the relegation zone, now 5 from safety and looking dead and buried.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Bolton, Brum and Barnsley didn't win another point. If that is the case could be a big point today for the mackems. They have to beat Burton now though to have any chance, they'll probably be 3 points from safety if they do, incredible really.
  6. Was looking at this story on the Beeb and looked at that table, Brechin have 4 points, 4 points from 33 games, that's got to be some kind of record. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43678697
  7. I know a few on here have already said we are due one over this lot, and that's absolutely true. But I think we are also due a change in luck, seems like when we've played them the rub of the green has always gone their way, the one notable exception to prove the rule being the 4-4 game.

When I've seen the u23s play he's been the stand out.
  10. I'm going to have to look it up now, but I have no idea what division Notts County are in The Mackems are going to be even more forgotten about on a national scale than they are now, that is not going to sit well with them.

That's one of the funniest ones I've seen, nice little touches like the ribbon on the egg cup.

Looks a fair few there, probably as many as a Mackem match these days. Half time 0-0, they are by far and away the better team so that's a good result at the moment.

Big chance there for ward, should have scored, nothing of a shot in the end.

It's one way traffic, and not in a good way, lucky not to be behind. To be fair though most of our better u23s are out on loan, not sure if Porto B play in the real league system in Portugal so there may not be a reason to loan players out , like there is for us.

I might or might not be utilising my work's wifi during my lunch break here, but it seems to be cutting out a lot for me. My god Steve Harper sounds like he's about 80, he's a decent enough pundit but just sounds so much older than he is.

Would have like to have seen this one, but at work today The way the u23's are playing though, might be a good thing to miss it

The thing is, this has all sprung up because a few of our lot went to witness their demise to the third tier in person 30 odd years ago. Firstly that was a playoff game with the loser going down, so cheering on the opposition makes some sense, it wasn't a midweek league game where even if they lost they would still not be mathematically certain of going down. Secondly it was in a era where the only football we saw on TV was highlights of a few top division games and the odd live one. Access to coverage of their games is widely available nowadays. Not entirely sure who's promoting this idea, maybe it's some of our lot but honestly don't see any chance of it actually happening.

You'll still be around man, just like the rest of us, just with a lot less enthusiasm and hope for the future of the club.
  21. Certainly helps us a little bit more doesn't it

Yeah, I have no desire to see them ever rise again.
  23. Totally agree, the one thing though that worries me is that if Ashley is still in charge, he's not the right age even though he's a goalkeeper, he's rarely sanctioned the purchase of any players that has no resale value and he'll think that is the case with Dubravka, he might be right but he would be a hugely important signing if we made it permanent.
