Yeah but not because he left the club but because of the timing. He'll still get one of best receptions when he comes back with Man City.

I hope you didn't give Given any stick then. I didn't give a s*** about Given going TBH, I was never a huge fan and still think although he's an excellent shot stopper he's far from the complete GK. Find a post from me saying I was desperate for Given to stay. If he had left at the end of the season and not in the middle of a relegation battle, then I think the vast majority of people on here would have wished him well. So your lame attempt at catching me out is just a little bit crap tbh. Jesus wept, read my post again buddy. I said 'I hope you didn't', as i know a huge number of people turned on him despite his 10 plus years here. Did I actually say you did that? Your reading and understanding skills on that post were just a bit crap tbh. You tried lamely to catch me out you sad little weasel and failed, honestly don't try stuff you are in capable of. You really don't have a clue. When people say 'I hope' it's not an accusation, i thought even idiots can tell the difference. And a response to your previous question, a fair number of similiar kind of posts in the style of this I know you seem to have trouble reading and understanding so i will give you the brief - oldtype doesn't like him all that much So you've got one person writing that he thinks Shay's a arsehole, tbh a lot think he's an arsehole for engineering a move in the middle of our darkest hour. This has little to do with the fact that most still however appreciate his contribution to the black and white cause and do not begrudge him his move. Barry on the other hand is being cast in the light of an evil mercenary when he's moving for the first time in his career, after 12 years of loyal service to a team that clearly have the financial clout to challenge the top 4 and his old club are being hansomly rewarded for it. Like someone else said you're comparing apples to oranges here, and digging yourself a bigger hole each time you write.

I hope you didn't give Given any stick then. He's not leaving a relegation threatened club mid-season having been arguably their best player all year though, so it isn't a similar situation really. I think its very similiar in many ways. Infact Barry's is possibly even worse .. No one in football thought we would actually go down and i'm sure most of our players in January didn't expect us to go down either certainly not Given - with or without him being there. Barry left to 'win trophies' - his team actually finished higher than them, and he joins a packed midfield, i don't think he is going to start every game at Man City and they aren't even playing in Europe. Villa were showing a fair bit of ambition, spending quite big that summer. Now for Given he had just conceded 5 at St James to Liverpool, had no manager, ownership issues and also lets not forget Shay was discussing a new contract in December - something obviously happened there and as a team we were showing f*** all ambition. He joined knowing he was going to be number 1 keeper and they were playing in Europe. Where exactly are all the threads villifying Given ? The general concensus from the people on this board was that the timing suxed, we got a crap deal and Given could have at least waited till the end of the season. Most did not begrudge his move and recognised his loyal service to the club. When he returns to SJP (I should say if that happens) with Man City, he'll still get a great reception, I'm not so sure that will be the case with Barry and Villa.

Spot on Tron, Dithering is what is costing us and has cost us big time. Ashley is probably the stupidest twat I have ever heard of in my life, and that includes Kaka and James !
-
Still getting paid by the club. Will take a further half a million out of our coffers before we're shot of the twat.

I really don't think it is witty at all. I don't have a problem with other supporters having a pop, TBH I would do the same in their shoes if it were a team I disliked that had been through the shit we have. But this really is a bbit lame, what exactly is the joke here, Basically our players are being sold for one pound, tbh that one pound more than most are worth. Lame as fuck IYAM.

I honestly don't buy the "Barry is the anti christ" crap that seems to be going on here. He cost Villa nothing, he gave them 12 years service, they just made 12 million off his sale. I don't care what he said last year about CL football, at the end of the day he's got the chance to secure his financial future, one last big pay day and join a club that has the financial muscle to compete with the big four. TBH I don't think he needs to apologies to anyone.

Not great news for us living abroad, we rely on Setanta heavily for our PL coverage and championship too. They show a lot of games over here, if they go under I can't see anyone else giving us the same kind of service -
Not sure it is a step down next season. With Man City's money no reason at all why they can't be pushing for CL themselves, I think it's more likely than Villa pushing for CL tbh. Got a feeling Villa peaked this season. They've got some good young players but not sure if they can hang onto them for too much longer.
-
Be great if they ended up getting Phil Brown instead. Oh how good would that be ? I doubt though any club would touch Brown after the way he's conducted himself the season just ended.
-
Could so easily have been us, had Ashley been prepared to sell only a few months earlier, pisses me off really to see Man City with all that money.

All CBs fuck up on occassion, no matter how good they are. Any mistake Bramble has made has always be maginfied and blow up out of all propotion. I'm not saying he is a world beater, but he was a lot better a player than most gave him credit for.
-
A lot of it was down to the crowd. Our crowd couldn't wait to jump down his neck at the slightest mistake. That IMO made him play nervously too often. He was young and needed time to mature into the role, he wasn't given that at SJP. Taylor is very much in that mold, people really need to remember that CB is an old man's position, any little error is punished pretty hard and you really have to be patient with CBs, marking them out for abuse early in their career, like what happened to Titus will just make them more error prone and stunt their development. Bramble has been able to rebuild his confidence out of the spotlight at Wigan, now more mature I think he'll be a huge success if he goes to the Mackems. I've got a feeling we'll do the exact same thing with Taylor.

Given the striking dilemma we're going to have (ie, we're gonna be left with a strikeforce of Shola and Carroll by the time all the departs are finalised)... i would not be against getting the likes of Lita and Beckford in for cut prices. It's not ideal but when you consider the overhaul throughout the rest of the squad, it could end up being very shrewd business. Carroll, Beckford, Lita, Ameobi, (Lovenkrands). I'd take that. That Orr link is painfully ironic. Lets go for Gary Caldwell while we're at it, he never played for the first team. What's Coppinger doing nowadays? I've always liked Lita, worth a punt on him especially if he's free.

We don't own the free hold to the land, the ground is owned by the club and the land is on leasehold like many other properties. We are no where near being on the brink of administrration and nothing like Darlington at all. Scaremongering nonsense tbh.

Fucking hell I agree with something this guys says. Really what was the point in adding that crap about NUSC, sullied a pretty damn good read.

When I'm old, I'm going to look old and saggy anyway, so who gives a s***? Trust me when you get to your middle ages you'll be looking for a way to get rid of that hidieous "art" that you put on yourself. This is the time to invest money in shares of tattoo remval companies. I was right about our Ashley and our struggles with relegation and I'm right about this. Ridiculous that you think you can assume this about people that you've never even met. That's the problem with tattoos, they cause you to assume things about people and it's generally not that complimentary. I think when you meet people who harp on about "Ooh, look at me, I have no tattoos, that's because I don't try and be cool like those people with tattoos" it makes you think thigns about them which are not complimentary. It's like those tea-total straight-edge kids who go on and on boring people to tears about how they don't need to drink to have a good time, and how people only drink because they think it makes them look cool and because they secretly hate themselves. LOL sure you do. I've lived a really boring life, because I have no tattoos and think they are hidieous. Insert rollyeyes smiley here. Trust me as much as tea total people like me, are bored just as much by the sheep that follow each other to the parlours, to make themselves look cool, just like David Beckham, oooh

So it's inflamatory to call them a fad. Of course they are a fad. They are currently "In" fashion right now, so the sheep go out to get themselves all inked up. They've been around for years but only recently have they become more mainstreem. Nothing high and mighty at all about what I'm saying. I'm just not a sheep, I don't following things to look cool or show people how hard I am and I know for a fact that the kids out there getting these done will firmly regret their idiocies of youth when the reach a certain time in life. This is a public forum people are entitled to their own views, as Dave keeps reminding me, so suck it up fella. The fad bit isn't the inflammatory comment, it's the frequent "does it mean you're hard or cool or something ?" muck that I don't much care for. Well does it ? What's the point in a tattoo, really, it's just a statement you are making and you want others to see it. You can do that in so many other ways that don't leave a permenant mark on your body. Really I kind of phased that badly, I should have said "does it mean you want people to think you're cool or hard or something." As with anything in life, actions speak way louder than words, or tattoos.

Ridiculous that you think you can assume this about people that you've never even met. That's the problem with tattoos, they cause you to assume things about people and it's generally not that complimentary. I interview frequently and since mostly people are all suited up, I generally don't see many that come through the doors with tattoos or piercing, and since I'm usually interviewing for developers or analysts, there aren't too many out there with serious ink, however if I do come into contact with a person that has tats that are visable or holes in their face where jewelry usually goes, then I mentally mark them down a little. Maybe I'm old fasioned but why allow those assumptions to be made, there is litrerally zero point in a tattoo other than you trying to tell somebody about yourself. A lot of it is "oh look at me, I'm cool".
-
People might as well tell you that when you're old you're going to regret never having had a tattoo. I am old and I'm am really proud that I never put any ink in my body or have any piercings I'm not sure exactly what it proves about someone, does it mean you're hard or cool or something ? I'm glad I've missed out on that particular fad.
