Just did a little calculation of who I think we'll sell and how much we'll get for them. The total came to 29.5 million, which is a lot more than I thought, here's how I came up with that: Geremi 500k Barton 2 mill Jonas 3 mill Colo 5 mill Smith 2 mill Martins 7 mill Xisco 2 mill Bassong 8 mill Wildly optimistic or close to what will happen ? I can see both Colo and Jonas actually moving on loans, but that would still leave us with 21 million from player sales, not bad at all especially when you factor in the wage reductions. The problem of course is we have to replace those 8 players in the squad along with the 6 players who will be either out of contract or at the end of their loans. A 14 player turnover may be to big for us to achieve.

Just to f*** you off big style. Basically. :aww: Damn, I'm so distraught now.

i heard his Agent on Radio 5 today, saying there was too much needed at Sunderland and that he would be interested in Celtic. Lazy fucker. Turns down a real challenge but offers himself up for possibly the easiest job in professional football That's an interesting thought. I think you are porbably right Celtic is the easiest managerial job in football. Can't think of too many more easy.

Get straight onto Martinez or Irvine, proven championship managers with potential. That would imply an element of urgency or foresight. I'm sure Hughton could get us off to a good start for the first 10 games or so. Yeah that's the ticket, I'm sure he'll do an admirable job, no need to rush into anything.

Who have we released ? Did I miss something ?

This thread started off as completely retarded, however there is an important message here. If this season has left you ready to throw in the towel on supporting this club, then to be frank, you were never a true supporter. The shit that we’ve had to put up with this season, should have made you angry but it should equally have reaffirmed your love for the club and made you determined to do your bit however small that is to help the NUFC get back to where it belongs. I love the toon, I really do, it’s not something personally I can switch off from, I can’t suddenly say “I’ve had enough of this crap, I’m going to support Manure or Liverpool or someone that wins something, now”. I’m proud to be a fan of this club as I truly believe we have the most devoted and passionate fans in the country, 40 years without a trophy yet we still generate so much interest, passion and every knock back is so painful. I’m certain there are many more that share my thoughts, even though I live a few thousand miles from home now, I’m still very proud to be a Geordie.

Although I will give you the benefit of the doubt about events prior to this season that you mention. You even admitted that the person was no longer a part of the club anymore, so I'll take everything else with a pinch of salt.

TBF they do have a pretty rich history, 6 times league champions. In terms of support and tradition a mid table prem league team. It's difficult to see an obvious getable candidate for the job, without them taking a bit of a chance on a Martinez, Coyle or someone. Hopefully they'll employ some no hoper and end up where we ended up this season.

Although I do think Redknapp is a complete and utter wanker. They've spun this story a little what he's basically saying is he a manager who coaches rather than O'Neill and Ferguson who tend to leave that to their minnions. Of course the way he says it smacks of self arrogance and a love for himself. It's amazing really how succesful he's been, considering how he comes over as being a rcomplete twat, yet his players seemingly love him and play their hearts out for him. Mystifies me to be honest, maybe he has a completely different persona on the trraining ground.

No it not, Like I said before complete utter garbage that some on here who've had an agenda against certain people like to pin their colours to it because it fits with their hatred of KK or Shearer. This journo absolutely loathes NUFC, he's a very petty bitter little man, who's illeducated on our club, but somehow has a platform to spout his illinformed crap. He's not printing anything for the greater good of NUFC, for whatever reason he despises us and is more than happy to stick the knife in and give us unsociliated advice on how we need to improve as fans. I for one am very proud to be a fan of the club, the supporters are NUFC's biggest asset, an average crowd of 48k for a team that was relegated, ffs no one has ever got near that number, so called bigger clubs like Villa, Spuds, Man City would not even get within 10k of that mark if they had to put up with the s*** we have had to this year. It's a shame that some on here like vent their anger at totally the wrong area, that's the problem at the club not the f***ing supporters.

I'm sorry Kaka but that complete nonsense, once again, of course we will be looking at players with a proven record at this level and we'll have the cash to buy them, I'm sure about that. Looking at League 1 players makes no bloody sense whatsover.

Since I'm at work, not that I would have watched in anyway if I was at home, I'm just watching the bbc's text commentary, sounds like Manure haven't turned up. Typical when I would not be too displeased to see them win. Perhaps I should adopt this attitude of wanting Manure to win every week, seems like the curse of NUFC is rubbing off on them and a loss is incomming.

Where's this from fella? Lad on Skunkers who lives in the same building as him. Been chatting to his missus while Seb's away with Cameroon. She say if he would sign? Doesn't say. It looks like offering him a new contract could be one of the things Shearer was talking over with Ashley and Llambias as he's apparently been told he wont be sold for any less than £15 million too. Anything over 10million is a "snap their hands of price" really. clearly isn't to be honest. We shouldn't be snapping anyone's hands off unless we're sure the player in question is not the answer. Bassong on the other hand is our best player. That doesn't really say much, since the rest of the squad has been down right awful. I'm still to be convinced about Bassong, he's got a lot of learning to do. 10 million for a player at his stage in his development is more than a fair price. Don't judge all 10 million players on Colocinni.

Neither is it a requirement to have any. KK didn't. Owen Coyle just got Burnley promoted with zero championship experience. Roy Keane had no managerial experience whatsover before he won the league with the Mackems. It's a red herring to think you need to know about the way the league works, it's the same as any other division the teams with the best players and most sound managers will be at the top. It's not rocket science or a completely different game to the PL, it's still freaking football.
-
I still think he'd prefer to let someone else pay him to be on them tbh. Yeah, it would be like writing off however many millions of extra revenue.

Why cant people take a step away from being a fan and look at everything from both sides before branding stuff as 'crap'. We as fans obviously are going to be biased and protective over whats written about Newcastle. However if you read it, he is simply stating Shearer is only here because of his hero status (which is of course true), that there are more qualified people then him and we haven't been impressive at all since he has been here. Of course he missed a few points ie: players are spineless, and his leadership skills and the way he unites the club together. He has some good point though. Because I know more about the issues with my club that this jumped up little southern git, that's why. It's complete and utter garabage, there are some decent journo's who have no association with the region but do talk a lot of sense, this guy is not one of them.

There's nothing to worry about just yet, don't expect Shearer to jump into to bed with Ashley straight off the bat, he's got to play the power game a little with him and is probably deliberatly stalling right now, trying to ensure that he's got the backing and Ashley knows the dangers of not fulfilling any promises made. If by the end of the week there is still no sign of an announcement then I will begin to get a little worried but not right now and I'm as impatient a bastard as there is.

we will get a hell of a lot more than £8m in sales, thats for sure. With a proper clear out we'd get £20m+, surely. Plus the money from previous sales which is only coming in now. The problem is I can see most of that money going back in to offset the losses. I bet Shearer only has £10-15m for transfers this summer. Which when spread across anything up to ten players isn't a great deal. I'm not so sure we will get as much as people think from the sale of our players. Matrtins may fetch a price, we may get a milion or 2 here and there from other players. Colo and Jonas will go on loan, i think rather than being sold. As well as the money we have coming in for old transfers such as milner, we have money going out still, Ashley made a big point of this, and it could be that the money balances itself out. A 10 million or more transfer budget for next season would allow us to find a decent enough team to compete. Spend 20 million and the manager would really have to be from the JFK school of football management to not secure promotion.

I got through the first couple of paragraphs, then bored to death with the rant. Although I agree that a love for the club is not a pre-requiste for the role, I think he's not looking at the real reason why people have faith in Shearer being a good choice. Most sane people that follow the club, see Shearer as having all the necessary tools to become a success in a role as manager of the club. He's single minded, was a model pro, a true winner, an intelligent person, excellent with the media and not stupid enough or arrogant enough to think he can do it all on his own. He's also a big enough name to lure in potential transfer targets, demand instant respect and also because of his status with the supporters he'll be given the time to put things right. I'll file this in the overflowing folder of "Crap southern journo, talking a bunch of un educated un researched shite about the Toon."

premiership club bought for apparently £32 mill as opposed to a championship one for at least £90mill if press are to be believed. Even still where's the scope for growth, we have proven that we can fill our stadium. there's also the 100mill loan repayable to ashley. what are pompeys outstanding debts out of curiosity ? This will be discussed during any takeover talk. I can't see anyone buying the club for anything more than 10 million, if they are saddled with a 100 million debt. Ashley will either have write that debt off or take a much reduced priced. I would say market price right now for this championship club is between 75million and 100 million, with zero debt.

I f***ing hate Manure with a passion but I would still rather see an English club win it. The only time I think I would not want a English club to win it would be in the unlikely event of The Mackems or Smoggies were in the final. I hate Barcelona too, even if it were two foreign clubs I would rather the other team won, any day of the week.
