Actually sickening btw, they manage to get themselves into ridiculous amounts of debt, unsustainably staying in the Premiership beyond their means, facing deserved financial difficulties which would probably see them ultimately relegated as they sell their squad........ then they get taken over by an Arab. Doesn't help that I despise the club either. Yep it's a little unjust, if these arabs are of the man city ilk then they be in for a great ride at Portsmouth. So much for the value of financial prudence. Look where that's got us, in the fizzy pop league.

Not sure if I'm happy or sad at this. Though Bruce has done a good job at Wigan, I'm still not convinced about the bloke and doubt he would get the Mackems anywhere beyond mid table. I would love to see them go for someone that's doomed to failure, but I have a sneaking feeling they'll get this decision right for once.
-
Aye, Geordie players/managers time at Sunderland seem to tend to end badly - lets hope 'agent Bruce's' time there ends similarly (if he goes). Bob Stokoe was the last manager to win a trophy for the Mackem bastards.

Probably the worst thread this week.
-
As others have said as long as it's done fast and cleanly, I would be happy to see a takeover however the last thing we need right now is another prolonged period of instability regarding the ownership of the club.
-
What's the point of this thread, was there really a need for another one ?
-
He's not going anywhere though, it's his freakin club, he owns it. He's not begging you for the right to continue owning it. We are stuck with him, like it or not. If he's making genuine efforts to repair the damage he's caused then he deserves support. What we don't need is another bloody witch hunt like we had after KK left. Everyone knows he's cocked up big time, the burden of blame lies squarely on him but lets move on and try to fix the club in a rational manner.

The last two paragraphs in the statement are telling, it's clearly aimed at securing Shearer as manager and talks are ongoing according what we see there. I wouldn't have expected for one minute that Shearer will have gone in there today, Ashley would have made his offer and transfer budget, player cull etc and Shearer would have said yes on the spot. If nothing else he's going to show Ashley he got to be backed and hold out a day or two before making his decision. It make his position much stronger. I think Ashley will follow the Shearer plan whatever that is and we'll end up with the situation we want by the end of the week. He'd been a complete fool if he didn't tbh and I think he knows that now.
-
This is actually what I thought staright off the bat, but if it is, it's a bloody good sign because it's showing that Shearer is pulling a lot of power in there and that can only be good news for us.

Don't think anyone is saying anything other than fair play to him. I'm one of his biggest crtics but I think that's a pretty good statement and it took a lot of bottle. We don't need more uncertainty with the ownership of the club right now. We need stability, if a takeover takes place I hope to god it's fast and slient. The mian thing he needed to do first of all was to sort out the management of the club and again fair play to him, he's begun doing that just 48 hrs after the season ended. If by the end of the week he's secured Shearer as manager then he should be congratulated, his next task is to let Shearer get on with it and back the man to the hilt. means nowt if not backed up with the required actions. Isn't that what I just said ????

Fair play to the man, that's a honest statement and a first step in rebuilding the bridges.

Of course it's not, but if you want to ban wankers from your site you're totally entitled to do that, it's completely up to you.

He's taking the piss man Dave, when did he start to appear on these boards ? Have his posts been in any shape of form respectful ? Has he tried to whip up a sense of panic with just about every post. Do what you want man, I don't give a s*** if you ban him or not,it's your forum, but he's clearly taking the piss. First off it's not my forum, so I don't know why you're saying that. Lots of people have contributed financially to the running of this place. He's been registered since mid-January and since then I've honestly not seen him taking the piss beyond the usual banter. It's a common misconception that this place is purely for Newcastle fans and Newcastle chat, when it's not. Other fans are fully welcome here as long as they're not twats. I've culled a shitload of WUMs over the last few days, both ones who were already registered and others who have tried to sign up. I won't have a problem binning anyone if they f*** us off enough. Don't get your knickers in a twist Dave. Like I said it's up to you who you ban from your site, I couldn't give a shit

Bassong will have little say in the matter, he's under contract. We should take a lesson from the way Villa handled Barry last summer, they didn't pander to him and held out for the price they thought was right, when that didn't come along. They told him to suck it up and get on with playing for the club he's contracted too. Didn't seem to do them much harm this season. We are in no need to sell bassong, he's on a low salary, is contracted for 2 more years and is young and talented. Hold out for 10 million, if no one ponies up the money, then he stays, simple as that.
-
Like I've said before I doubt that even we are that stupid to no include relegation clauses. They certainly did not play like they had any desire to save the club from going down, some though know that they won't be playing for us next season anyway and will still be picking up top flight wages some place else.
-
Backwards step for me, like those have said the wages he would ask for would not be what we need right now.
-
I've only read your link as I have no desire to read any more of your drivel. The critical thing you missed off that is that it was the parent company, ie the one who purchased the club, there is zero debt there to anyone other than Ashley. Ashley made the loss and absorbed them. It's paper loss and takes into account devaluation of playing assests which is not a exact science, a money spin on it all. It's not a real loss of any money to any outside bank. We don't suddenly owe someone 34 million quid, simple as that. Again a little knowledge would have help you out here.

Well someone had to tell him, since the admins don;t seem to want to I don't mind guests from other clubs, the likes of 1878, Lein and GG come on here and are respectful, I even can tolerate Brummie to a degree. But this guy's just taking the piss really, probably looking for a reaction, so I gave him one and hope he's had his fill and buggers off, which he will do once the europhia of our relgation has died in him.

What's the deal with transfer windows and loans in the Championship, I've never totally understood that one ?
-
Almost as interesting as what'll happen to us given our reported debt levels I imagine. £34 million loss in 12 months announced in January + 100 million owed to Ashley + £40 million TV revenue Loss for next season + £73 million wage bill = mess :omg: OH FFS do us all a favour and f*** off back to your own boards. You know f*** all about the finances at NUFC so stop your lame attempts at trying to whip up some sort of panic. The irony of a West Ham fan talking about finances is woderful. Well apart from the very PUBLIC announcement made by NUFC for a 12 months loss in January 2009... Apart from the well documented 73 million wage bill.... And the TV revenue difference between the premiership and the championship that few people know about.... Oh, and that NOT SO SECRET 100 million interest free loan owed to Ashley when he cleared your debts upon arrival....yeah, sure I know nothing! Link to our 34 million loss last year ?? We are on course to lose 7million this year, that's all, our debt is very low and very managable. It's the one bloody thing Ashley has done well, making successive profits at transfer windows has that effect. Dumbass. 100 million owed to Ashley, who only happens to be our bloody owner you gormless mong, sure he's going to call in that debt on himself. Loss in TV revenue is offset by the reduction in the wage bill, you total bafoon. Owen and Viduka alone account for close to 20 million. No one denies that this is a financial hit on our club, but it's not the disaster you would like it to be and you would like the fans on this board to think it is. You really know f*** all about us, you come on here and preach about how we've gone all wrong and how we can learn lessons from you and others. You come here (ironically just as we've been relegated) to patronise and with an air of superiority that is not even remotely warrant. West ham have cheated their way to PL survival are in finacial dire straits and are just basically a shitty little london club that no one really cares about. Like I said please f*** off backdown the hole you came from.
-
Turnover of players in championship teams is higher than most in the premiership, generally players are on shorter contracts and the better ones are lured off to the PL. Veterans past their prime tend to be nomadic and move around. We'll have more changes to our squad, I grant you that, but don't think for a second that the other clubs in the division will have completely settled squads.
