They were signed over his head at the last minute of the window and the whole hoopla got the better of him, as he himself said they were positions he didn't even feel he needed to strengthen, so it was akward for him to just automatically jettison the players who had his trust already.

Can't help but think this might be a bad idea for Blackburn. for all the agricultural style of play it can be effective without the need for pricey players - if they want to play pretty they are going to have to sell lots of chickens

The thing is they actually have some decent players. Look at what Coyle did at Bolton without making so many changes. If Coyle was at Blackburn for example he would certainly use those players far more effectively. Allardyce plays Roberts alone upfront and leaves Kalinic, and the Diouf from Man U on the bench all the time, and those two look really talented and would likely make a good partnership up top.
