Where do people get this idea that his wages would be astronomical? He is a 35 yeat old centre back without a club and no prem teams after him. Would be a very good signing. Still looked serviceable in the prem just last season. Would be a real leader for us at the back and on the pitch in general.

I remember KD ranting on here about how Bent couldn't play with another striker upfront. Always thought it was bollocks though as he has never really played upfront with a proper target man. He's going to have a big season upfront with Jones doing all the hold up work.

Campbell is in no position to demand massive wages because there isn't really a clamour of prem teams after him now is there. He's 35 years old and is in the very last stages of his career. Could definitely see him signing for a championship club on championship wages.

Maybe Taylor's replacement?

Xisco... he looks kinda OK, but something... shitty about him.

I think he could do well. Looks to have a lot more pace and mobility, which could be useful.

Nolan looks a bit quicker today. Not the greatest achievement when he has previously looked like he was in slow motion but still an improvement at least.

Again say what you want about Shola but he is making his presence felt. At least you know he is out there. If he keeps up this effort more good than bad will happen for him. We just have to accept he will always look a bit ridiculous out there.

It has to be said we would be nothing without Jonas. has to be the most effective ineffective player ever.

Everything goes through him and inevitably then puts us in decent positions.

Colo's been better than usual today so far. Has to be said.

Colo does well against strikers that do not overwhelm him physically.

Steven Taylor has such great attacking instincts. Should be a right back.

Regarding Ameobi, he still has his moments of complete cluelessness, but I haven't seen him work this hard in forever and that includes the first game.

Martinez has already taught Zoggy how to look up and pass.

Martinez is going to be awesome for Wigan. Zoggy is really going to develop under him too.

Judging from what I saw from Swansea last season. Excellent football from a team that didn't really have any outstanding players.

 

Wigan already has some decent players in place and with the backing of Whelan, and Martinez smarts in the transfer market I think he will be really good.

Hopefully, I think he'll do well to be fair although I keep thinking back to Ince when I see this situation, though Martinez will be a completely different kind of manager and a lot more creative than Ince was, plus the gap isn't as big.

Yeah, I think the experience of managing in the championship will put him in a better position than Ince was in. Outside of that though, I just think he is a cut above Ince as a manager. Swansea played some absolutely amazing stuff last season.
