  1. Suspected this might be the case. For some reason the club appears to be desperate to sell players and Taylor is one of the remaining who would get a lot of interest at the moment.

Very insightful of you. How long have you thought this might be the case? About two days, perhaps?

Taylor doesn't want to leave, but the club want to sell him and are trying to, regardless of what our beloved Derek Llambias says.

Oh right ... thought i was onto something there.

  2. I'm amazed by this. Just amazed ...

Hughton better be kept at the club in some capacity after this effort. Very pleased for him.

    :celb:

    Urgh man, just Urgh.

In some capacity, keep him as a coach is what he's saying, which I agree with.

It's that kind of mentality that got Roeder appointed as manager...

Don't be silly. Hughton was already a coach here and was doing a good job and when the manager comes I think he should be kept in that position.

    :aww:

Roeder was already head of the academy here and was doing a good job and when the manager came we thought he should have returned to that position...

  4. Was very enjoyable, how quiet were your lot?

How lovely and old is your away end, felt like i'd gone back in time! But i liked it, was like Highbury a bit!

Your fans were very good after the match like, very dignified congratulating and saying you hope we win the league (Im sure that's just because United/Chelsea/Liverpool are hated more like though )

Can't believe you gave Fabregas so much space, such a good manager like Moyes and he didn't stick someone with Fabs, i thought Neville was going to get stuck on him tbh!

I have to ask Ash. With everyone fit what is your first Arsenal 11. Fabregas has been class in that free role just off the front man but will he remain there with Arshavin, Nasri and Rosicky available? I could see him then moving back alongside Song.

  5. By the end of the season everyone will be talking about Defoe and Bent as new options for Capello's world cup squad while Owen will be nursing some injury or the other.

For comfort his mum will read his brand values to him while sitting at his bed side. "Your still good looking Michael, and no one can ever take that away from you. EVER"

  6. Congratulations David, for screwing us out of an easy £20m (or in other words, apparently £15m and Taylor).

Would like to see where transfer funds will come from now.

Moyes is an absolute crackhead. he's been shown up as an absolute amateur.

This was a great chance to get money that was way over what Lescott was worth and hence been able to invest it all in the team and he has blown it completely. When you consider Everton don't have much money either it really is insane.

Man City were desperate and Everton could have probably even got one of Dunne, Kompany, Zabaleta or Onuoha in return along with some money.

This summer we've seen Wenger allow Toure and Adebayor to leave when the money got silly and we've even seen Ronaldo been allowed to leave when the money got silly. It's freakin' Joleon Lescott for crying out loud! £20 million!

    Epic fail Moyes.

It's probably the first major thing he's done in 7 and a half years that I entirely disagree with, and think has been handled foolishly.

Someone just mentioned Hangeland. Everton could have easily got him in after selling Lescott for £20 million. That would have probably been an upgrade too. So many decent centre backs out there.

  8. It's very silly to think that the money will be re-invested, Kaka.  Never going to happen under Ashley.

Unfortunately, this is most likely correct. This is the reason why we cannot afford to sell him. Otherwise, I can't say it would have devastated me that much. Taylor is okayish as a centre back really and nothing more. Not sure he'd ever be able to achieve Lescott's level at Everton, or even come close tbh.

  9. What if the club has indeed been sold to the nameless Middle Eastern consortium Thomo told us about?

What if the sale is only validated once the wages have been reduced to a certain amount (hence the player sales)?

What if Moat has just been in on an elaborate scheme to help keep the media and fans "entertained" while all of this takes place behind the scenes.

    What if I am ITK?

  10. Heres the thing about this Steven Taylor thing. He's been pretty good in the last year (very good when at right back though!), but if we are looking at this strictly from the point of view of his abilities then if he wants to go and the offer is £8 million?! Then it's adios for me.

The issues are of course that he is pretty much the face of the team for many now as the main Geordie in the team and this is pretty important. Also, it does seem as though he could actually be a much better defender for us at this level  too.

Basically it all comes down to what will be done with the money we receive for him if he does go. Do we then use the money to get in a couple of affordable players for this level? For example Beckford and Killgallon? Seeing as the money would likely take care of both their fees and a lot of their wages? The likelihood is of course no. Therefore it's a worrying move on the whole to sell him.

  11. a few quotes from Everton forums

    http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/everton-forum/20575-steven-taylor.html

    God no!

This guy handballs, gives away penalties and is generally one of the worst defenders to grace the premiership, he makes poor decisions, is bad at marking and lunges in without thinking.

I do like this quote from one of their posters

Wouldn't mind Ryan Taylor one bit. Would be a massive improvement on Hibbert.

    Very true.

Hibbert must be worse than s**** in that case.

Hibbert's much like Ameobi in that once in a while he'll have a decent game, be strong in the tackle and the guy hes up against will not get much success.

90% of the time, he's f***ing woeful, and only specialises in hoofing the ball down the field to absolutely no-one.

What fascinates me is that when Yobo was younger he was a very good prospect at right back and really shone there for Nigeria. Even till this day I much prefer him at that position.

However, last season after Jagielka and Lescott formed a strong pairing at centre back, Moyes left Yobo on the bench and played Hibbert at right back!

    I found this quite disturbing.

  12. Someone wouldn' take Bale in this league? Are you mad.

Would take him even in the prem. I reckon Tottenham are seriously over reacting over that boy. He's a very talented player. All they have to do is play him more on the left wing rather than left back where his mistakes are more lethal. That way he'll get his confidence back. He was excellent when he first joined them.

  13. Still not convinced Moat will buy the whole club (takeover). I have a feeling he will take a large steak.

Ties in with all the sauces Dave was on about I guess.

FREAK RIGHT OFF PUSS IN BOOTS!!!!
