I think the word you are looking for is desperate. He is basically clutching at straws.

No way we are in for this guy. At most an alright player but is already 25 and really isn't anything special. We were clearly having a look at Gomis and not this bloke. I did watch PSG live at the Emirates tournament last summer and they did feature some very impressive youngsters but they were much younger and probably haven't been as involved with the first team in Ligue 1 this year.

It's going to be depressing watching Arshavin who should add another couple of million to his price tag today and encourage a lot of other teams to take notice no doubt. I wonder if he is even on our list of targets anymore ... or if he ever was in the first place.

Look my friend if you've got nothing good to say then shut it

USA and Trinidad & Tango first up. Could you just imagine him getting a new deal prior to these games with Keegan waxing lyrical etc etc Then Owen going down clutching his knee in one of these meaningless friendlies. Would put a downer on the whole summer and we would once again be going into the season talking about missing Owen. Are we sure we should be giving this guy a new deal? Not sure I could take that crap happening again.

s***. Better than half of what we've got. Can play a few different positions. Can take freekicks. Premiership and European experience. 26 years old. For free I'd take him even as a gamble. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. The guy looks like he is heavily pregnant for goodness sake. Aye, and Michael Owen is past it. As a striker to get in behind the defence yes. Tactical retreat. I like it.

Aren't there a bunch of England friendlies over the summer? I would wait till they are all out of the way before giving him the new contract tbh. If he isn't guaranteed to be fit for the start of the new season then forget about it.

Good news. I always forget (only asked the other day...), is it The Times that Owen used to have a column with? Yes, you really need to stop asking this question you attention seeker you

Similar to Lennon in the sense that their pace and dribbling ability made them a threat and danger on the pitch which in Dyer's case presented opportunities for the team going forward. However, the final product from both players for the majority of the time renders all their other good work void.

Must have got his North East clubs mixed up. Sunderland nailed on.

Arshavin isn't a right winger. He plays either as a second striker or on the right hand side, generally for an attacking three. So I would certainly classify him as a player who can play as a right-winger. Also anyone who wants Lennon clearly hasn't seen him play very often. He's a worse version of Kieron Dyer. The guy is exactly like Kieron Dyer pretty much on and off the pitch! I can't believe how many want him here considering how much Dyer was despised at Newcastle.

Well seeing as we were after Modric then Moutinho probably makes more sense than Veloso as Moutinho's type of game is similar to Modric. Moutinho is slight but very scrappy and dogged. I don't think he would struggle to adapt to the premiership. He's competitive in the same way a Mascherano or a Fabregas are, both smaller players, who don't get pushed around or overwhelmed physically.

Pennant for me. Is about 2 years younger, his delivery can be excellent and he has a bit more class or touch about him. Would also be much easier to get and more affordable. Chelsea have screwed us over Parker and Duff, I think we need a break from them!

I'd never say no to a Brazilian. Well ... except I was caught in Ronaldo's predicament, which I wouldn't be anyway.

Zoggy is from the Dider Domi & Oliver Bernard School Of How To Be French Arse. Decent player on his day though. It comes to something when England U21 captain & record caps holder are no longer classed as decent young players. I prefer to judge players on what they do on the pitch for Newcastle and not what kind of caps or appearance records they have for England. That being a key point, got to get picked first. What???

When is Brown signing for Portsmouth again?

I am nobodys fan boy as I am not 10 years old, equally I dont player bash for the sake of it. This club has a recent history of a minority but vocally herd fans turning on young players; Jenas, Taylor, Milner, Viana in the recent past. Yet some on this board want us to sign young players why so they can have more bait to slate. We want decent youngsters though. Zoggy is appreciated and he isn't even that great. Not our fault the likes of Taylor and Milner are so poor.

Still waiting for someone to provide one outstanding or even promising attribute he has. Very average player who is borderline rubbish tbh.
