    Agree completely.

If you have a player that isn't looking to sign an extension and is therefore a depreciating asset, for most clubs, you want to get good value for them. Turning down £70 million and possibly then losing him on a free down the line is just really bad business.

They're not really at threat of going down are they? I don't see that at all. The manager and team is far above that in my opinion. They also managed to get in Chalobah and Lacroix who are plenty good enough. Chalobah is a good, solid Prem experienced defender. Lacroix is of a decent calibre, and is well known by the manager who has worked with him previously.

Going to be more humiliating next summer as the price only drops further and further from here. It was legit crazy the offers he turned down from us this summer.

I'd be surprised. The way he's talking he's already seemingly trying to generate interest. If he sticks to that sort of money, no one will go for it I don't think.
  6. The weird thing is Casemiro has been doing this for a while and so if it's not the instruction and he's doing something he shouldn't be, then he should not be playing and should have been sent packing in the summer. There were some really good solid midfielders in the last year of their deals this summer, that went for relative peanuts in Fofana from Monaco and Thuram from Nice, both moved for around £20 million. I cannot believe you didn't end up with at least one of them. For what it's worth I won't be surprised if you end up signing Rabiot in the next few weeks. I think you need more options in there that can complement both Ugarte and Mainoo.

£70 million?! No chance surely. By then we'll be on our way to getting both Botman and Lascelles back. If he's fortunate maybe £50 million at best, and only if we think we can get in ahead of other teams by doing a deal then. I think there's a chance everyone waits till the summer and he'll start seeing £35 million bids as Guehi will be on a free In a year.
  8. I don't understand why Casemiro is the one taking the responsibility of progressing the ball from the back. Should Mainoo not be the one tasked with doing this between the two? Why is that still not clear up till now, despite all the mistakes Casemiro has made and still keeps making? There just doesn't seem to be a clear plan or pattern of play there. On top of that, I'm not even sure if Mainoo is fully up to that level of responsibility. He seems to have been handed the keys a bit too soon. Bringing in another centre mid that could distribute from midfield would have been the way to go to take pressure off him. Eriksen is there still I guess, but he doesn't have the legs for midfield and is not great defensively. Think the midfield is hurting you defensively as they get run by easily and they hurt you going forward as the build up from the back is unconvincing. Ugarte will help defensively. Will be interesting to see if things will improve going forward too. He'll naturally play it to Mainoo more and it will then be up to him to initiate things.

I agree. Handled it all very admirably. And if he is unhappy about Parish pricing him out of the move, now is his chance to respond, in an equally calm manner, and wait for his contract to run down. To use Parish's own words, none of the players want to feel 'stuck' after all.

Sounds like that's exactly what he's going to do. This is the other side of that calm, patient persona I imagine. Won't be in a rush to sign an extension and with so much interest, will just wait. All makes sense if he was really up for the move, as I imagine he and his team will be shocked at the figures turned down with just 2 years left to run on his current deal. And so won't be eager to sign up for even longer, unless they can work out a much more reasonable release clause, that Parish likely won't go for, after turning down £70 million.
  11. The shamelessness of the man is astonishing. What a disgrace.

Ah ... so Parish has realised he just let £70 million slip. Explains the quotes posted earlier. Making excuses for why Guehi couldn't join us, and likely hoping we come back in January. Bet he thought he'd find it easy to get 'good guy' Guehi to sign an extension. Now everyone will likely just wait till the summer when his value could be as low as £30 million even, if he has an ordinary season. Blew the chance to get max value for him, and it's now dawning on him.
  13. Dutch media reporting ETH is on the brink. After they gave this man a new contract just this summer, and allowed him to oversee the summer's spending. What a start for Ratcliffe and INEOS. Knew the way he came in running his mouth some foolishness would soon follow. Now we just need him to tie things up beautifully with the only move that makes sense ...
  14. Will return next year as a first team megastar, rendering Guehi pointless.

    Harvey Barnes

He's probably the best striker of the ball at the club, and hits it with both his right and left foot. He also has the curled finish and the laces finish in his repertoire. Most wingers coming up in their youth likely played both sides as part of their development. It's not a magical conundrum that would suddenly dumbfound them and render all their abilities moot, when they switch sides. Against Forest he did really well on the right and actually had a couple of attempts from there that he should have scored from, one in particular that he just snatched at a bit. Really underrated player this guy is, and I'm not certain Gordon will do better than him on that right side. For the meantime we ought to switch them at points, like we did during the Forest game, so we can know for sure what combination is best for the team.
  17. Weren't we playing the 3 centre back set up today when we had the ball, with Joelinton then looking to overlap from LCM? Don't think he was supposed to be playing as a traditional left back, but still picked his spot at the right time to get forward and get a ball in the box.
  18. Didn't they give ETH a new contract?
  19. Well that was a fun afternoon of football
  20. This is so weird man Think he would have been an okay pickup for an MLS side. Brazil is crazy. He's the most un-Brazilian full back ever
  21. Can already tell they're going to ruin Zirkzee. Should have stayed in Italy.
  22. Really messed up how ETH threw Colyer into this game. He has struggled badly.
  23. Got a lovely delivery. Usually has his head down dribbling into cul de sacs or always looking to shoot. Should do that more often.
  24. This Szoboszlai is an idiot. Imagine turning down that guarantee of a goal.
