  1. Fair play if Parish is trying to do all he can to keep him. Lots of history between the two, and it looks like they might take a big step forward with this new manager.

If not Freedman, then I'm sure we'll get someone else that is well qualified and that will do a great job.

I'm happy with the Tosin signing. Just don't want us to checkmate ourselves on silly wages. I don't think we will though.

    Maybe [emoji38]

I always watch my Naija guys quite closely. I've been hoping the Super Eagles do more to get him on board.

I think we'll be fine wages wise. You may well be right that it won't be that high. The £100,000 figure was more of an absolute max amount I could see happening.

I haven't seen anything from Tosin to suggest he's better than Schar. He's quicker and better in the air but I don't know his game like that. Doesn't strike me as a baller like Fabian.

I like what I see though. I like his profile.

I assume Tosin will compete with Burn to partner Schar at the beginning of the season.

I've never really loved Schar defensively, especially when he gets caught in open spaces one on one. I think Tosin is the better defender personally and more dominant in the air.

Botman likely won't be healed up and fully ready to start until next year now, and so I see Tosin pairing with Schar.

But we've not seen how Tammy has recovered from the ACL. He scored 8 league goals in the season prior and must be on massive wages.

I don't know man. Wilson is a much better finisher than Tammy. Near enough fully amortised fee, ok wages.

I'm a staunch Wilson supporter me. Scored more goals this season than Tammy has in the last 2 seasons combined.

I hear you, but I saw a fair bit of that Roma side last season under Mourinho, and it was pretty disgusting stuff. Also generally a much more defensive league.

In our team and the way we play, in the Premier League, I see a completely different outcome. Wilson had a number of seasons at Bournemouth where he didn't crack double figures by the way, when working through his own knee injuries, with King outscoring him, so it's all relative.

The wages will definitely be an issue, as I'm sure he is being paid well there. I really only referred to him because he has been linked recently at a very fair price. My point was more that I don't see us spending £50 million on a backup striker, like @TRonwas anticipating.

I don't see the hype with Southgate - I think he's a pretty poor manager in all honestly. That Euro final - Mancini got the better off him tactically and it showed how amateurish he is to make big changes that can really change a game. Considering this is England's golden team his record against bigger team is patchy at best. 5 year contract for him at Man U please.

    100% with you on this.

He's had some serious talent to work with for England recently too, which won't necessary be the case at Man United, at least initially.

The football isn't really flowing either and can be quite defensive and clunky.

Then worst of all, the fans will be sceptical to begin with and will be itching to have a go at him for every little thing. The pressure would be immense.

Very much looking forward to it!

If this is true - this is a heck of a lot.

I would expect around £70k or close to whatever Schar and Botman are. But not more unless he is coming to start.

The bad thing about free transfers is they can wreck the entire wage structure. This is one of Villa's bigger long-term issues. If Tielemans is on £150k, when it's time for McGinn & Kamara's renewal - they need £160k at a minimum. They start full strength, Tielemans does not.

The wages killed Leicester in the end.

    -----

All of what i said is null and void if we execute a top strategy to increase the revenue.

I think Tosin is being brought in to be Botmans partner at CB, once Botman is back fit and firing.

£100,000 a week is fair value. I don't see that as wrecking the wage structure at all. Botman is on around that amount I believe.

And will Tammy want to come and sit on the bench?  He's also had a massive injury recently.

I think it would depend on how we sell it to Tammy. Last season both Isak and Wilson were playing and performing, and we didn't even have Europe then. If it's that sort of approach then I think it would work. I also am hoping we would then also see them paired together at times too.

Tammy had an ACL injury, but he's still young and hasn't really been a crock for most of his career. I think he'll be fine. Think Wilson has done his ACL 3 separate times in comparison.

Think people who are thinking Tosin will be mainly backup are doing him a disservice. He’s very much good enough to be a regular starter for us.

Yup, Schar turns 33 this year.

Tosin longer term will partner Botman, once he's back to fitness and form, adding some much needed pace to the back line.

Similar sort of deal with the left back situation, where I see Kelly replacing Burn when we use the hybrid 3 centre back/left back role.

Looks like a young Paul Dummet with his marauding emergency tackles and hopeful hoofs under no pressure. A bit worrying when the highlights are average

That's really how you saw things?

I'm not saying anything. If and when he joins and the games begin, we can talk again then.

20m for Wilson is mental like. 11 starts in all comps this season. 33 soon.

Guess the Saudi league might get two years out of him.

Folks on here are going to be absolutely sick this summer.

There's a lot of talk that Man Utd are going to get £50 million from Saudi for Casemiro this summer. And don't forget they paid Liverpool £40 million for Fabinho last summer.

    Just for context.

He will probably get slightly above what he otherwise would have had we paid a fee for him, and it will still probably double his current salary.

What does "turning sour" look like? He's a good CB at present and I can't see a scenario where he gets worse.

    Exactly.

Tosin is on around £40,000 a week from the information out there.

These are the best free transfers. Very good players that are not at big clubs and who are still on lesser contracts that are running down.

He is probably going to get around £100,000 a week as a free agent. This is still exceptional value and not the type of contract that ever becomes a problem.

Mid to lower clubs can now afford these type of salaries.

Mitrovic was on around £120,000 a week at Fulham. Zaha was on around £130,000 a week at Palace. And these were contracts they signed a good few years ago now.

Having seen the performances Howe has got out of Schar, Lascelles and Burn, I cannot see it not working out for Tosin. From a talent stand point he is ahead of all three of them.

If we spend big money on one position it might be a striker rather than right wing IMO.

Right wing is where we need a first team player more urgently.

Even if Wilson leaves any striker coming in will be the secondary option.

We have been linked recently with Tammy Abraham, who Roma are asking around £25 million for. That is the kind of deal and price we will be looking at for any option upfront I imagine.

It will end up being more like £10-12 million if the Maxi sale to Saudi was anything to go by. For us to be able to get £20m would probably need an offer of something similar from a club outside of Saudi to justify it.

The article literally states they are lining up a £20 million bid for him.

Callum Wilson is a more impactful player, with a higher reputation than St. Maximin man.

No idea why you think we'd get less for him.

I don't watch Man United very often but Garnacho looks a very frustrating player to me (based on today). Very good in a one kn one situation and makes things happen but decision making and quality in the final third seemingly let him down. He seems a far more instinctive player.

It's actually criminal how many great positions he doesn't take advantage of. Be interesting to see if he figures it out.

It's really screwing things up for Hojlund big time. Neither wing creates quality chances for him, game after game.

He'll underestimate Newcastle on Wednesday and won't play the same way. I guarantee it.

Amrabat has been poor this year but he was very good today essentially acting as a third centre back. Casemiro was nowhere near as exposed, but ultimately still made the mistake that led to the goal.

We should be playing exactly the same against you. You're a better side and we need to give Casemiro the same protection and play on the counter. Fernandes in for McTominay today and we don't lose that game, maybe even win it.

Yeah, that's exactly how I saw it.

Arsenal couldn't get any rhythm going at all. Amrabat in there helped closed up all those half spaces Arsenal love to operate in. He was also pretty good making himself available for the ball and popping it about.

I think the right role and setup this season would have seen you get better out of him.

Really hope you're right and ten Hag changes it for Tuesday, but I'm not so sure he will.

He’s incredibly slow and gets walked past at times when he gets left one on one. But I also thought he played really well.

Yeah, he's no world beater but he at least looks like he knows the position, and plays with some discipline.

They've played plenty games with either Eriksen or McTominay in that deeper role and they leave so many gaps.

Their midfield looked a lot more compact today. Not too thrilled about it tbh, with us going there on Tuesday.

Was hoping they'd persist with either Eriksen or McTominay deeper, alongside Mainoo, as it left them very open. Hence the 100s of shots they've been conceding.

By all accounts, he's been utterly dreadful whenever he's played.

Has he? Seems like he's hardly been given a run. But maybe I haven't paid enough attention.

Their midfield has been over run all season. From what I've seen today, he's at least competitive in there and uses the ball pretty well.
