Tonali coming in for Longstaff next season and a right winger with more take on ability and chance creation skills, and just imagine what some of these numbers will look like, considering they are this good already.

    My goodness!

    Sort of agree.

This involves though Olise deciding to stay because someone somewhere will trigger his release clause - quite possibly multiple clubs. For a Palace fan the nonsense with Chelsea this time last year is a source of hope. He could do it again - Glasner helps.  Money is not the draw with him - it's exposure and playing footie week in week out. So this Palace fan hopes optimistically as possibly. The other thing is the better sources say he has quite a demanding list of requirements - he's very switched on about his career apparently:

first team football - rules out maybe City (Pep) and Arsenal (Saka)

settled environment - rules out Liverpool and Man U - Spurs dubious

CL/European football - thinking Newcastle might well fit the bill - Villa seems a long shot tbh

Though if City came calling he would of course go. I'm not quite that deluded.

I appreciate this post, because I hear this sort of thing about the more serious footballers out there, and there's more of them than people think.

Too many times on this forum people think all of these guys just go after the money and living in some flash city.

That lad who’s scored all the goals for Olympiacos in the Europa Conference is out of contract in June - could be worth a punt as a back up option?

He’s 30 but has scored 32 in 46 this season.

Watched both Villa games and he was fantastic. His movement and runs in behind were top tier. Think he's going to end up being signed by a pretty decent club.

Don't think we will make such a move though. Wilson looks like he will be here next season, and by all accounts were after a younger striker with some versatility, to start moulding as Wilson's eventually replacement.

  4. Desperate for Leverkusen to pull off this undefeated season.

Be sad to not do it after getting this late into the season.

    Would be an outrageous achievement.

I've never wanted him out like.

But we need to understand that he makes mistakes and fans should be allowed to voice that. Without been tarred with the negative brush.

His biggest supporters on here point out when they think he could/should have done things differently.

Difference is it's not done in a manner that makes out the man is some sort of dunce that's lucky to still be in the job.

  6. Compared to when we were originally linked with Soule earlier in the season, he seems to have really taken a bit of a leap, according to a lot of the later stuff being written about him.

Looks like he's a much more highly rated prospect now, and is attracting a lot more interest, and his price is looking like it will be more around the £35 - £40 million range.

Could be a pretty exciting coup it looks like.

I would prefer more of a playmaker type but you are right.

There's a few scout reports out there saying he is more of a playmaker tbf.

Data seems to line up with that too.

£80m. Yeah lets give them Isak on top of it. We're not doing it for the money, we just really want to get rid of the players.

The only way this makes any kind of sense is if the clause is £100 million upfront? And they are perhaps saying we would accept £80 million upfront and the rest later on?

Still not convinced any deal to Arsenal happens.

I don't think international football would appeal to him.

Eddie likes the day to day too much

He's already addressed the England thing. Don't know why it keeps getting mentioned him taking the job.

I'm sure I've read somewhere his agent is very friendly with Edu. It wouldn't surprise me if there's been contact, but I'd be a bit disappointed if he fancied Arsenal.

Yeah, Edu has some pretty great connects with all the Brazilian boys.

If Arsenal are trying to negotiate down they must be offering us players.

Can't see us going for it though. Pay up or git.

Suppose if I was a multi millionaire at 20 odd I may be tempted to go live in a city where everything is happening.

Newcastle can feel like the opposite side of the world in comparison, whilst only being a few hours on a train away.

Like I say not everyone prioritises that, and some have young families which is where places like Newcastle can be a massive plus.

Not everyone wants to be out and about like that though.

Making the kind of money these guys make, life is pretty sweet wherever you are.

Football success obviously counts for plenty. I doubt anybody would have described Liverpool as a desirable destination before the Shankly/Paisley era.

Exactly. And look at the team and project being put together at Newcastle right now, and the atmosphere at the home games. Players are going to be attracted to this for sure.

It's not really. London and the Midlands are significantly more multicultural than the North East, although the gap has closed a bit. That doesn't necessarily matter much to everyone, but sometimes it does, especially for those who don't know much about this part of the world. Personally I'm not a fan of London, but for people who haven't been here much, maybe London just seems more glamorous.

I don't think these guys are given enough credit for their prioritising of their football as professionals.

Everyone just seems to think it's about how glamorous a city they are in.

For some I'm sure it might be the case, but not to the extent that is being made out at all.
