Jeezo, the amount of articles by people either claiming 'they know' or have links Arsenal, who are claiming Isak would be available for between £80m-£100m, how he'd be a perfect fit for them and deserves to play at a 'higher level'... I just think that, apart from their low valuations being delusional, it's just incredibly disrespectful. Why the fuck would we sell him for such a price anyway? When we paid £63m ourselves and that was before he proved he could do the business in the Prem (he's literally two goals behind Haaland!). I hate the media's love in with certain clubs, gets on my tits no end.

This country absolutely hates sporting parity.

The talk should be about giving Newcastle credit for the signing, and talking about how the likes of Isak can take Newcastle forward and make them a competitor going forward.

Instead, it's the same nonsense as always, fantasizing about which of the top 4 he goes too.

    Cringeworthy stuff.

  2. Funnily enough, Man United are after Freedman as well, but to work under Ashworth in a recruitment role.

Looks like we're offering him a more senior role more in line with the one Ashworth vacated.

Wonder if part of our delay over Ashworth, also has to do with us possibly looking to tie up Freedman first, as Ashworth would have had a role in sorting his move to Man Utd.

I was reading up on Dougie Freeman a few months ago, he has someone doing blind research based on stats. All identifying markers are removed and some nerd just looks at the pure data. No footage, no names, nothing. Then its compiled into a recommendation list that the scouting team and visually report on.

Vieira spoke really highly of him and the new guy Palace just brought in, Glasner, has too, and seemed very impressed by him. Seems to have really good rapport with the managers. Some really good stuff about him out there.

Hindsight is selective too. For example, he played really well in the last sixteen games of 2021-22. We took 31 points from those games, only really getting tonked off Spurs and City away.
We looked dead and buried before then; 11 points from 19 games at the turn of the year.
Obviously not just Targett making the difference, but for the difference he made in that period alone, I think he was a good signing.

Yeah, I think people have forgotten how well he was playing back then.

Ultimately played a big part in keeping us up so can't complain too much.

His injury situation has been really unfortunate, because he's plenty good enough to be a member of the squad.

Given our lack of athleticism at CB. I'm more excited about this than I am Kelly (though both would be nice).

He's a unit and decent with the ball at his feet, hope it's true.

Kelly shares a lot of similar traits. Big, fast and athletic, but also comfortable on the ball and uses it well. The added bonus with him is he's really comfortable at left back too, and not in the Dan Burn way.

The main difference is Tosin is really calm and cerebral and looks to time things more. Kelly is more aggressive in the challenge and can actually be a bit rash at times.

I'd hope we get both tbh. Would be a great coup. Both really underrated because they are not at bigger clubs.

If we get both they will show their quality and it will catch folks off guard.

  6. I love this so much for us. Fantastic signing if true! He will surprise a lot of people.

I've been wishing for the Super Eagles to get him on the team as England haven't had him involved.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see why Brentford, after likely losing Toney, would be willing sellers. For the money and with our ambitions + restrictions, (I'm guessing) 40m should get us some option on a potentially elite player, which I don't think (?) is him.

They are always willing sellers provided their valuation is met, because they operate by the money ball system.

Mbuemo is an incredibly effective and versatile player that suits our play style to a tee and still has room for growth.

Seems someone like Neto gets all the hype and plaudits, but Mbuemo is just as much of a terror, and has been more productive.

Mbuemo has 8 goals and 5 assists in only 22 games this season, after scoring 9 and getting 8 assists in 38 last year.

Both Mbuemo and Wissa at Brentford are really underrated.

  8. Hmmm ... I see people are trying to rush Iraola on to a bigger club already. Isn't this what we complain about when it's done regarding our players?

He was very close to getting sacked early on, as the noise was out there it was coming, after a very rough start. But they stuck with him and it has paid off.

Think he needs to show more than just one season personally. Let Bournemouth enjoy having the good hire they made at the helm for a bit. Geez.

    Just seen that Burnley pen…

    Onana ffs

Doesn't even have to come off his line there. The whole situation was under control.

    Strange guy man.

    Soon to enter last year

    Salah

    Van Dijk

    Trent

I”d be shocked if R Madrid aren’t looking at Trent as the Carvajal replacement - also Jude is his best mate

Yeah, could get interesting at Liverpool.

That Michael Edwards is sharp though, so he might actually keep them stable, but let's see.

Just confirms my point really. If you can not see that those two situations are completely different I can’t really help you.

    Perfect, thanks.

It’s a clear fucking foul man. How can people have watched football for years and not see that.

When we beat Arsenal at home and they were claiming Joelinton had fouled Gabriel from behind in the leadup, when going up for the header in the box, was that a foul?

  13. 2 minutes ago, McDog said:

Dude, are you saying if you get the ball in the box you can shove someone out of the way to create space and that's fine?

Just look at Carlos' reaction. It will tell you all you need to know. No one is asking for that foul on the pitch.

Carlos goes to block him and he puts his body into him, it is not a shove. This is a contact sport you know.

Not just the goal, but don’t underestimate Gallagher.. off the ball he is so good

Easy target because he's not easy on the eye, but he is a good midfielder. His data backs it up too, absolutely ridiculous numbers across the board when you pull them up.
