More confirmation of why Shelvey loves him - nice few days off in the middle of a relegation battle! He is said to have telephoned Bruce after the game and wanted to have it out there and then. Bruce said he would speak to the 31-year-old at training on Tuesday.

Where West Ham are. 100% what I was going to say. Keeping Rondon, Perez and Almiron and then giving him the £90 million that Bruce got?! The defence was already sorted. The Longstaff and Hayden pairing was getting better and better every game in midfield. He would have just fleshed out the squad and made the team better in certain areas, and improved the subs options. We would have been top 6 minimum, while threatening a whole lot more, considering how vulnerable the typical top 4 bunch have looked. Totally agree. It's so bastard frustrating. He's a stupid twat Mike Ashley and this for me has been his worst decision as NUFC owner by far.

Wow! Bruce has turned chicken, ducking the most searching questions of his media duties. Last Friday he faced tame questions from broadcasters for 18 minutes, while allowing three questions from the 12 newspaper and website reporters, lasting just two minutes. We'd often spend half an hours chatting with his predecessor Rafa Benitez, getting insight into his thoughts and methods. That's communication. After Saturday's draw, Bruce did his TV duties, then took a question from a national agency and one from an uncritical reporter before Zoom was cut off.
