Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition
Paully replied to OzzieMandias's topic in Football
Any reason why the opening match changed from featuring the previous winners to featuring the host nation at Germany 06? -
Odd considering their current mantra. Wow! That is glorious!

If he goes on loan I think it’ll be in England and they won’t loan to him one of the big boys! Sadly, I can see Everton being in for him if he is available and he won’t need to move house to move there either
-
Interested in Rashford on loan according to The Mail

That just isn't true, and I say that as someone who was in the Holte End that day. Men my age and older who had lived through the Harry Kartz era in the 80s were at it, vitriolic in their abuse. They were genuinely ecstatic at our demise. Some of it was banter, most of it wasn't Aye, they were in large utter wankers all day - pre - during and post match which resulted in several scuffles - detested the pricks since!
-
Watched several stuff on the History Channel last few nights - superb - especially "One Night In Turin" - brilliant that - media were utter wankers with Sir Bobby!

'They've gone to the casino and rolled the dice' - former Aston Villa finance director on the club's current crisis Ten years of decline are to blame for Aston Villa's struggles Former Aston Villa finance director Mark Ansell has accused Tony Xia and the club's board of 'rolling the dice and losing'. Ansell who worked at Villa between 1997 and 2004 has watched the club's decline in recent years with dismay. In an interview with Radio WM, he revealed he is 'sick to his boots' at the mess of the club. He stated: "I imagine that this is more than one monthly payment that they have defaulted on and they will have discussions with the revenue, they would have seen the play-offs as a possible get out of jail free card. "When they didn't win promotion they will have been questioning whether or not they can get their money." Ansell went on to discuss his interpretation of Villa's current finances. He said: "I imagine it is more than one month they have missed because with a salary bill estimated at £60m, that's about £5m a month not including signing on fees that you pay once a year. "The pay as you earn figure for each month on that would be £1.5m a month, so a bill of over £4m means that it is over one month. "Part of the problem here is that before the finals when they looked like they weren't going to reach the play-offs, they were already running at a loss. "You have to question the management of the club when they can't pay their running expenses. "They've gone to the casino, they have rolled the dice and it hasn't worked. "Trevor Birch works for the Insolvency Practice so he will now be in there to remind them of their responsibility. "I would imagine that a club as big as Aston Villa won't go into administration because they will always have people interested. "That would mean that there either has to be a refinancing or even with the current owner if he has the money, if he can't get it out of China then that isn't good for the future. "There probably has to be a change of ownership so that funds can come in to help the club get to where it should be. "I have to go back to the days where Doug Ellis, Steve Stride and I used to sit and discuss the club. "We are sick to our boots as to what has gone on. "Whether it is Lerner, the current regime, it is unbelievable what has happened. "Let's be honest though, this is the culmination of ten years of decline."
