fucking hell, is there anyone he hasn't played for? Only about 87 league clubs. He's still got plenty of time to cross them of his list though.

Newcastle United vs Blackburn Rovers 19:45 10/11/10 Pre-Match thread

That's crap right there. According to the BBC stats from each of our league games the average possession stats is 53-47. In our favour. We do play possession football quite good these days. -
Someone raised this in the Sunderland match thread, is it not down to the new 'style' of defending? Make the opposition beat you through skill rather than allowing them to run/pass behind our defence. Seems to minimising opposition chances. Not when he is allowing people into the box area when anything can happen. I'm not saying he should be diving in everytime as that'd be worse, just not allowing so much space. Hasn't been so bad for it this season (so far) though. I've thought about this aswell. His positional sense seems to have improved a lot this year. Where last year he let attacking players into the box at almost all times before trying to make a challenge, he seems to have the confidence to take them on further out towards the sidelines this year.

Is Mike Ashley steering Newcastle United in the right direction?

I honestly think that Hughton is more the kind of manager to buy 2-3 players for £15m rather than splashing it all on one player. And that's the way it should be for us right now. It's more important to strengthen the squad at this point rather than strengthening the first 11 with one player. That's the way I see it anyways. -
Told yas.

From the often enjoyable @zonalmarking : Not really sure what Clattenburg is meant to do. No point giving the handball, since Gomes had the ball in his arms, advantage Tottenham. I tend to agree. Tough shit.

On the other hand it's the pitch manager's job to give the footballers the best conditions possible. The pitch has not looked quite as good this season compared to the last 3-4 years IMO. Lots of tearing.
-
He wasn't alone in doing that. I thought players from both teams were slipping all the time. Seems to me that the pitch wasn't in its best shape yesterday.
-
He's got a great leap, but he didn't win that many headers yesterday. Very strange. A couple of times he was a fair bit over the defenders but couldn't win the duels. Great leap, poor timing, I'd say. And that's kind of important too. Otherwise we could just play a high jumper.

The thought of a 52-year-olds father giving him hell for his scruffy looks is an awesome mental picture.

Would be very good. Fernandez is a cracking little player. Doubt it's going to happen though.

What if she took a dump in his face while he was asleep? What if she had his nutsack in a vice? Would he have been forgiven then? Or should he just take it like a man? "Oh, my balls are hurting like fuck. But since you're a lass it's alright"? Of course it's wrong to beat up women, just as wrong as beating up other blokes. But if he was assaulted (which I have no idea about), surely he must be able to defend himself? Doesn't matter if the alleged perpetrator was a bloke or lass, does it? -
And how the fuck would you fit the family in that?
-
He's left WHU now hasn't he? Dunno whether he'd come back to us mind but is a good coach. Lee not Steve?
-
Who do you suggest? Not that I'm disagreeing btw. There are lots of people really many of whom are unknown to me, but I'd like to see a young lower league manager who has ambitions to make it at the top flight and has shown some signs of doing alright in the lower divisions. Lee Clar... oh wait. Conversely, Exeter City's manager Paul Tisdale has taken them from Conference Mid Table to 7th in League One in four years with a total spend (not net) of £20,000. He's also easily the best dressed manager. Hughton would look like a mug next to him. http://d.yimg.com/i/ng/sp/empics/20100412/19/3047535873-12042010192456.jpg
