I like Lovenkrands, but there's very little to suggest he's of premiership quality.
-
Absolutely, but we're desperate need of a striker, have been for 4 weeks and still don't have one.

I did explain what I meant by 'straight red' tbf. -
Let's not speak too soon. But hopefully you're right.

I honestly don't remember if he was or not.

Eh? A bad tackle is violent conduct. Where did I say it wasn't? I'm wrong about that actually, I think a bad tackle constitutes serious foul play. Violent conduct is like elbowing someone or whatever. Nevertheless, a three-game ban isn't what Ryan Taylor has, because he was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity rather than either of the above. One game ban. Right, a one game ban. Which is what you get for a red card that isn't awarded for violent conduct and isn't the second red of the season. Not quite sure where the arguement is here tbh. -

Yep, I watched at in the cinema given that none of us were allowed into Roker. Beardsley made it 1-1 with a fantastic header.

When I say 'straight' i meant no aggravating factors such as violent conduct. I'm well aware that several of our players have been banned for more than one game. -

A straight red is a always a 1 game ban unless it's the second of the season, in which case it becomes 2 games. -
It was Euro 96. Did Shearer even play in the game at Roker Park though?

I don't think SWP ever really wanted it badly enough. He went to Chelsea and had his chances, he just never really impressed as he should have.
-
You should probably check out the pre-match QPR thread, in which a fair few also wanted to start Harewood. Are all those posters 'truly ridiculous' btw?
-
The mere fact you thought it was a good idea says it all. It doesn't matter that he scored, it's a terrible idea. Why not start a 16 year old lad in the academy in our next figure.. or Colo up front.. he might score Ok.
-
It was 'truly ridiculous' that I wanted a striker to start a game in which he ended up scoring? A striker who'd notched 20 goals in a previous championship campaign btw.

I've never come across anybody with worse judgement on strikers. His senior career started about 12 years ago. 6 years into that career the team about to win the premiership paid £25m to sign him. Explain to me how that equates to him being 'w*** for the majority of his pro career'. Mm i remember after harewood come on as a substitute in his debut here and you immediately started posting 'he has got to start our next league game' ignoring his match fitness and just about everything else. your knowledge is kinda shocking, so that's kinda cheeky. Do you remember who scored in our 'next league game'? You wanted to start a striker with 15 minutes of football under his belt that entire season? Ahead of Carroll and Ranger, yes. And in hindsight, it would have won us the game.

Were you calling him w*** in 2004 when he almost single-handedly put us and Liverpool out of the Uefa Cup? The point was that he was a late developer. The exact percentage of his career that could be described as 'w***' isn't that important. He may well have been a late developer. Doesn't make the comment 'w*** for majority of his career' any less of an ignorant comment. As pointed out, 6 years into his career Mourinho paid £25m for this 'wank' player.

If you read up on his career, even for 2 minutes, which isnt the hardest thing to do with the powers of the internet .. it would all say the same.. Drogba was w*** for the majority of his pro career. Words fail me. This comment arrives in a conversation in arguement about Andy Carroll btw from a bloke with a Michael Owen avatar. Take away the last 5 years and his career was amazing was it? At 21 he wasnt even getting regular football at Le Mans. 5 years? 5 1/2 years ago Mourinho paid £25m for him. I dread to think how bad he must have been in the years preceding that.

I only wish I could reciprocate the originality of Blef's last 2 posts.

You saw him at 21 then.
