Lee was a superb exponent of shooting/passing. Sorry but Cabaye has nowhere near the same levels of ability when it comes to shooting and passing. Lee never had the vision to pick a pass like Cabaye did for Cisse against Stoke. He did it plenty, man. For Keegan and others.

Hmmm. My favourite central midfield ever at NUFC is Speed - Dyer. Both very special players who'd contribute defensively and offensively.

I think he could but not under this klutz of a manager, he would look a lot better under Sir Bobby IMO. Speed was obviously the better player though. Not sure I'd agree that Speed was better. Speed was far, far more suited to the PL. He'd attack the ball, look to support the attack whenever he could, had a gorgeous range of passing and could tackle.

ok. Lee and Speed were in a different league, yeah. They were both far superior / rounded players. Cabaye is good don't get me wrong, but he has far too many off days, is weak, and the game bypasses him to much. Speed and Lee were both outstanding for us. Yes.

8m for a 29 year old one trick pony. 6 at the absolute most is acceptable. If we get Bent we need others to make up for his lack of other ability. He ain't worth 8m. End of. No amount of puffed our chest Ronaldo posturing makes it any different. I don't think he's quite worth it. But it's not a stupid price. He's hardly played any football, man. 8m is a silly price for him now. If he'd been in the team last year, playing a few games, getting some goals, then fair enough, you'd have a good argument. But not now. It's no one else's fault Villa paid far too much for him. He's a proven goalscorer in this league at a time when there aren't too many of them kicking about.

I don't remember him playing that role at Charlton at all. He'll likely want Bent in the Ba role when he was with Best, as the slightly deeper striker ghosting into the box.
