Seven games, no wins. I would love to be Newcastle's manager, because there seems to be no pressure on results. Just take your time, wins will come. If not in Premiership, maybe in Championship then.

If it was Perez with that performance, everyone would've praised him. Great passes, good movement with the ball. But when it was Messi, it wasn't anything special. Yes, the expectations are really high and he didn't quite deliver what he could at his best, but it doesn't mean that he didn't play well at all. I agree that physically something is wrong with Messi and has been for a while. It's interesting to see what happens now when the World Cup is over. You could really see from Messi that this was something he really cared about. It's worrying though that with Suarez banned, Neymar probably injured and Sanchez gone, Barcelona might need to play Messi even though he might not be at his best fitness early next season.

I'm Barca fan and wanted to see the team win so badly, but Atletico were better today. They wanted to win the league, Barca players just wanted to collect the bonus moneys. That was well deserved and well fought for Atletico. As for Barcelona, Tata Martino has managed to ruin everything Guardiola and Vilanova built. Thankfully he is gone anyway. Dani Alves and Mascherano can follow him out of the door. Iniesta has been very poor lately aswell and I'm not going to even comment about Messi. Putting Neymar on today was huge mistake by Tata. Barca need huge changes in the summer.

Buy me out of trouble again please Mike. Absolute joke of a manager. Agreed. Basically saying that it's only players fault that the team is not performing well enough.
-
It was not long ago that he was in the stands watching Barca game and now. Such a shame, tragic news

Hasn't been like that for years anymore. Look at Real Madrid last season, blame was on the players (like Casillas) the whole season and Mourinho did nothing to stop that. The standard of refereeing has been horrible this season, but well.. It has always been. Even the referees can't stop the best team winning the league when it's 38 rounds.

The Official Alan Pardew Excuses Thread
Elephant replied to WarrenBartonCentrePartin's topic in Football
It is, the video is on the BBC sport website. The horrendous narcissistic c*nt says it without a hint of shame. Stop the goal like this?: http://www.marca.com/2013/09/09/futbol/futbol_internacional/resto_de_america/1378727467.html -
Just sucks for World Cup, if both Costa and Falcao are injured. Not to forget other good players who will miss the tournament. It starts to look like it's just too easy for Real Madrid this year.

I am a bit hungover so that probably has something to do with but I actually had to look it up in a dictionary to see if it was actually a word Was it?
-
Graeme Souness, Glenn Roeder, Sam Allardyce, Kevin Keegan, Joe Kinnear, Alan Shearer, Chris Hughton, Alan Pardew. Steve Bruce would fit in this list too easily. Maybe it's time to try something else?
-
He is just like Harry Redknapp, Mark Hughes or even Alan Pardew. He can get the job done for a while, but he is very limited manager and would bring absolutely nothing new to this club.
-
I'm not sure if it's a word, yep. Well, at least now I learned that it's (probably) not And yes, English is not my native language. Funny though that from all the mistakes on this site, now you start focusing on my grammar
-
People are really so desperate at these days that even Steve Bruce is OK? We have really sinked low since Sir Bobby's departure.
-
That was the point, yes.

I will never forgive and forget Mike Riley (the worst referee ever) that Sir Bobby was sacked. It was after the Aston Villa game that he was sacked. The worst refereeing ever on that game saw their goalkeeper getting away with handballing outside the area and other very tragical decisions. Though it wasn't that one match that got him sacked, but if the referee had any sense in his mind in that game, we would've won it and Bobby would've got more time. Who knows what would've happened. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2004/aug/30/match.sport3 "Thomas Sorensen then produced the handball that even he admitted altered the game. "Ball to hand," said Sorensen unconvincingly. The dismal referee Mike Riley showed a yellow card. The Premiership should show Riley a red one. "

The thing is, though I really want to see Pardew sacked, that it's just going to be another huge disappointment, when we end up appointing someone like Steve Bruce or Peter Reid.

How the hell was it defence which let them down, when the opposition scored only one (1) goal and the attackers couldn't do anything despite controlling the game for 90 minutes. And I agree, that their defence is a poor joke at the moment, but that wasn't what let them down today. And I agree that the whole team is off-form at the moment. Cesc, Iniesta and others are not at their best, but seriously their strikers are completely useless at the moment. The movement is poor, decisions are weak and finishing is nowhere to be seen. When they rely so much on individuals to perform, they need their strikers to do their magic. And the problem with players like Iniesta and Cesc that they don't really have any options to pass the ball, because the strikers are not making the runs they should. The worst player of the season is hands down Mascherano, but it would be better to play him as a defensive midfielder and move Busquets up one notch (yes, it wasn't possible today, but they haven't really done it while Bartra, Pique and Puyol have been all available). Mascherano, Busquets and Iniesta would do the trick for midfield and the focus should be trying to break the defences with Alba, Alves, Neymar and Alexis/Pedro. But it would need a different kind of approach.

Harsh on Tata, not his fault that the squad has been on a decline for two years now and nothing has been done. If they had bought Thiago Silva and kept Thiago Alcantara they'd probably be winning this league by quite a margin. But the problem was today (and with so many games lately) that they are completely clueless on the pitch. In the beginning of the season they started playing more direct and slowed down the tempo as the season progressed, but now they just don't seem to know what they are suppose to do there. There was so many situations today, when the players just were not filling the empty spaces on the pitch and also moving on the same direction, it was very easy to defend for Granada. Yes, the problem is that they haven't signed the right players, but today it wouldn't have changed anything if Thiagos were there, because they just don't have a game plan to follow, they completely rely on individual players to perform. Just like with Rijkaard. And with Messi, Neymar, Alexis and Pedro completely off-form, who else to blame than manager? And with the transfer ban, they need to get rid of him, because he is clearly not the right manager for this side.

Worst Barcelona I've seen in long time. Tata Martino was miserable appointment and they pay a very big price for it now.
-
Would love to be Newcastle manager one day. Can't really think of any other job where I could make up such a comical excuses for doing my job poorly and still get away with it every time.
-
Well played by Ashley. He hired Kinnear to take the heat off him and now he sacked Kinnear to take the heat off him.
-
That would just be £18,235m / season. They haven't really had anyone to sell (they haven't really bought anyone with market value for the future, like us) and they only got promoted 2008. They have done enough to stay in the league for five seasons and that is pretty much the cost of it.

So Debuchy to PSG next summer?
-
I was just thinking yesterday, that with Joe Kinnear in charge, if we sack Pardew, it's probably going to be Glenn Hoddle or Kenny Dalglish. Basically there is no hope of better manager, when (or if?) Joe Kinnear is the one making the decisions.
