Agree, think Manquillo is perfectly capable when fit but with his injury record that position is a hell of a lot shakier now than it was pre-Tranmere.

I agree, which is why I prefaced it the way I did. I just feel like CM cover is our one glaring gap right now. Everywhere else I think we have enough cover to make do. I don’t think another RW is essential because we’ve got enough players who can cover that role and do okay. Think Manquillo is great cover too so I have no idea where that’s come from, sucks Krafth is out but we don’t desperately need cover there. Disappointed does not mean it’s been a bad window either. Quite the opposite, it’s been fantastic.

Feels wrong to say it after we’ve had such a good window so far, but I’d be disappointed if we don’t get some cover at CM. With Bruno out the creativity and quality in the middle just evaporates, need someone else to shoulder that imo. Would feel like a missed opportunity to go through the first half of the season which such a gap

This is it for me. I seem to have picked up the baton as no. 1 Chris Wood defender, but I’m under no illusions he’s good enough to start, or even be on the bench in a season or so. I just find the level of vitriol against him a bit baffling, as well as suggestions that he doesn’t try. He tries, lacks quality sure, but puts the effort in. Presses all game. I respect that a lot more than players we’ve had in the past that just didn’t give a fuck.

Overall happy with a point. Would have been fucking glorious to take it in the 98th minute mind Undefeated in 4, played reasonably well in each for the sides we've been able to put out - happy.

At least this has made the case for needing another option in midfield before the window shuts. Without Bruno we have no creativity. Maybe with Shelvey back and in the form he was in 2nd half of last season, but without either it's just turgid.

He presses constantly all game. His hold-up play is fine, half the time the ball comes to him and there's no-one there looking for the 2nd ball. He's not incredible but he plays a more important role in our press than he seems to get credit for.
