Sadly Ashley took it way too far in the opposite direction and would hardly spend at all. what if he had planned to spend but only when he freed up money by getting rid of some big earning wasters ? not saying thats what happened but it's as likely as "he's an idiot" ? What if he did? Doesn't change the fact that his inability to spend when we really needed it (after selling the likes of Zog) was part of what got us relegated. Even if his plan was to only buy after getting rid of 'wasters', he stuck to it far to rigidly.

Pancrate's deal expires this Summer. It was only a "to the end of the season" deal. Aye that's what I meant. Either way he'll be gone, and Ambrose would be a good replacement imo.

Would love us to get Ambrose, Pancrate I think is only one a 1 year deal and based on how shit he's been won't be getting that renewed.

Ambrose, Moses won't come with Barca supposedly after him but Darren probably would.

Harper/Krul Simpson/R.Taylor - Taylor/Kadar - Colo/Williamson - Enrique/Kadar Routledge/Pancrate - Nolan/Guthrie - Barton/Smith - Jonas/Loven Loven/Vaughan - Shola/Carroll Could do with some better cover on the left as I don't think Kadar or Loven make decent enough Full backs or Wingers respectively, and a new CM with legs, but other than that that's a team to match WBA at least.

Ashley's worth £800 million or something (read in another thread), all we'd need to get us safe when (or if) we get promoted would be around £30m. Exactly the sort of attitude we want him to have. Would be disappointed if he was willing to sit on the bench for years when I think he's got the potential to surpass Harper.

The sort of player we'd absolutely tear to pieces whenever he doesn't try hard enough (which would be a lot), but would still be better than anyone else we've got even hardly trying.
