  3. It's the screaming I find annoying. It's everything about her. Dreadful. When you think about it logically women should be good at commentating. It's essentially just talking. Every woman I've ever met has been fucking ace at talking. Looks like the BBC have signed up the only woman who's shit at it. Women don't talk, they babble on.
  4. Definitely sounded like he sees owen playing behind the front 2 long term, so if he stay, I guess so.
  5. At least there's 2 gooners on the couch. Roll on a diatribe against Spurs and a just few words about us.
  6. Lol , well he ( happyface ) started it : ) Sorry, I don't post on the football pages regularly. I was only acutely aware that comparing Owen favourably with Martins inevitably leads to 4 pages of angst. Its not that , its that you seemed to compare Oba UNFAVOURABLY with Owen , anyhow who gives a f ? Match of the day on shortly : ) I did. Owen is, was and will continue to be better. Can't see why that opinion (more of a fact really) warrants 4 pages of teeth gnashing. Even if people disagree, it wouldn't get dragged out so much if I'd said Harper's better than given, which is far more debateable. Anyway, I need to set the video for the Adrian Chiles compilation I'm working on.

  8. I should stay out but, I can't help myself. How many of Martins' starts was he actually playing up front? Who am I? Motty? How many has Owen been up front? Ur stats seem wrong my friend http://telegraph.jumpmediagroup.com/PlayerStat.aspx?p1id=5127&p2id=3789 Owen has played more minutes than Martins this season Owen has played a total of 1555 mins martins has played a total of 1538 mins I was talking current form. The period spanning each players last 5 goals. Shite statistically, but my point was just that Owen's still getting shite despite his cracking form.
  9. I should stay out but, I can't help myself. How many of Martins' starts was he actually playing up front? Who am I? Motty? How many has Owen been up front? Every? Behind Oba though, right? No? Oba was unfortunately on the bench for those games (except in the past 3, which have coincidentally lead to 7 points). So not "every" then? And Oba's been the further forward in the games we've been scoring... but hasn't scored as many as the man he's in front of. Shite debate. Just sing "Englands number one" next time Owen scores and I'll keep singing "Oba Oba-Fem".
  10. I just thought being on the pitch more provided more chances than being stood on the pitch before the whistle to start the game. but if it doesn't they've started as many as each other. I love Martins. He's mint. We've shit on Spurs.

  12. agreed to a point....but what about his last 20 for us,as opposed to the clubs last 20 ? He's got 5 in his last 20. Owen has that in his last 8. I love to see them both play, but I can't understand the Oba-love, and the Owen-hate. How many starts has he had in those games as opposed to Owen? I'm not getting at Oba, I'd just like to see Owen get a bit of "Englands Number one" and that, but the fans give him nowt. To answer your question, Owen's got 5 in his last 720 minutes, Oba's taken 1320 minutes to get that. You havent answered my question - how many STARTS has he had as opposed to Owen? I haven't got a f****** clue mate. Why don't you tell me? Doh , why'd you think i was asking the question if i already knew? So you admit you havent got a f clue yet you feel you know enough to make a slight against Oba tsk tsk I thought my point stood by virtue of the fact that Owen has recently scored the same as Martins has managed, but in almost half as many minutes played. I'm struggling to understand why that doesn't matter on account of neither of us knowing how many games either of them has started in those periods. The arguments seem mutually exclusive if you ask me. The obvious difference is that Owens started more games , surely its easier to score goals if you start the game as opposed to coming on in a game most of which are / have already been lost? I'm no Brian Clough, but I'd have thought it's easier to come off the bench fresh and run rings around players who've already been running about for an hour. Except that you only have 30 minutes to do it in BUT MARTINS HAS PLAYED TWICE AS MANY MINUTES AS OWEN. Jesus wept..

  14. Sod off, Scholes is shite anyway, and Cruyff was twice the player Maradona dreamed of being.
  15. Oh, and.... Martins has played the full 90 7 times, played 1320 minutes and scored 5. Owen has played the full 90 7 times, played 714 minutes and scored 5.

  19. Because you judge a great goalscorer on how many goals they score, you judge a finisher on how clinical they are in front of goal and Owen has never been a clinical finisher, he's a striker with great movement and a good footballing brain which often finds him space to get chances but he misses far more than he scores. If you're looking for players who miss loads of chances you don't need to look much futher than Rooney, Tevez, Torres, it must run into a 100 between them this season. Torres can miss 5 chances a game more often than not. So? There's a distinction between a great striker and a great finisher. You can be a great finisher without being a great striker. The 'finisher' is becoming a rare breed. I'd say Henry is a great finisher, as is van Nistelrooy, and of course Shearer. Owen's not at that level of finishing now even though he's showing himself to be a better all-round striker than many (including me) thought. Edit: I take too long to type. Just read Baggio's post above. I don't even know what you're on about. Did you see the chances Rooney and Ronaldo 'missed' yesterday? Are they shite? No, they're class for getting in those positions in the first place. The discussion is about Owen's ability to finish chances, so naturally the focus is on the number of chances he misses as opposed to the number of chances that he converts. He is class for getting into those positions and I've praised him countless of times for his movement and instincts but that's irrelevant to this debate so I don't know what you are on about. He's not one of the world's best finishers. No-one's a better finisher than this dude...
