  1. Mind you, I don't think I said much about the "campaign" at the time, but now I think back it was an absoloute disgrace outside of the comedy value some of the other lads enjoyed from it. A small number of fans deciding they know what's best for the club and attempting to force a change at the club by whatever means they could because everyone thought they were daft. If you don't like something sing about it at the match, if you want someone new in charge, sing for them at the match. If the crowd agree, they'll join in, if not you'll get howled down. Democracy.
  2. The ones he didn't get booked in Nah, erm, Bolton, Arsenal. I know, big deal, 2 games. I agree he's not been great, but I think people are nastier about him than Geremi because of the whole cock sucking thing.
  3. Linked to the oldest two I could find with "Alan Smith" in the subject, if you can supply me a different link though I'll have a butchers and accept peoples disgust. It's only Geremi who's truly dissappointed me o0n the pitch from Sam's signings though. What about Viduka and Smith? Barton? Oh come on... Only Smith has played enough games to make a judgement out of those (though some of viuduka's touches have been class when he has had the ball at his feet). Smith hasn't been great, but he's had a few canny games, Geremi has been godawful since the opening day of the season though. So, why do you mention the new singnings then? Only Smith and Geremi are signings? Then it is easy to say that only one (of two signings) has been wrong... Wait for the prove of the others. :-) Sorry, but could you reword that. I'm afraid you've lost me.

  5. That's why I only quoted the last 2 paragraphs, which don't mention Shearer. I agree that the "Allardyce out" brigade want a Keeganite messiah, not that they want Shearer specifically or that we can't do well until he's been and gone.

  7. It's hardly just Parky (thoough I agree, there's a picture of him in the dictionary under the word 'flaky' ), there's people in there comparing him favourably as a cut price Hargreaves and that. I just reckon the view of Smith was generally positive when he was bought and for the first few games (it's the only singning that's been brought up to refute the claim that people were generally happy with Sam's signings so that case is closed anyway), now the view is generally negative. Fair enough, but I reckon we're just never happy with what we've got. Look at Parker, he got a load of stick here, now people are wishing he was back in that other thread. Messiahitis.
  8. As I recall, people seemed really happy with Allardyces dealings at the time. Hindsight is wonderful. Everyone wanted Smith didn't they? These threads suggest he certainly wasn't unpopular... http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=44077.0 http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=43797.0 Funny how people insist Smith should only play midfield in those threads too. Opinions on here change like the wind and no-one is held as accountable as Allardyce. If only he was as maleable.

  10. I agree with the overall sentiment, but there's a few things with a tint of rose about them. Lots of people wanted rid of Robson. The stadium was practically empty for the lap of honour when we finished 5th, as a show of support it was terrible and to the players a final nail in the coffin which was displayed by our start to the following season. As a fan base the Newcastle fans failed Robson miserably. Though lots of managers were a reaction to the previous man, you can't really argue that point with Allardyce. He's the man Shepherd chased for years. And though the majority might have thought he wasn't up to it, I remember very few people agreeing with me that we'd be better off if we stuck with Roeder. And there's loads who preferred to get Allardyce over Sven for some bizarre reason, a myth that goes around about him being lucky, aye, we don't need that do we. Canny summing up of Shepherd's performance otherwise.
  11. Giant-killers Oldham and Huddersfield will discover their FA Cup fourth-round opponents when the draw takes place live on the BBC at 1330 GMT on Monday. League One club Oldham produced the biggest third round shock on Saturday, beating Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park. Huddersfield, who also play in League One, dumped top-flight Birmingham out of the world's oldest cup competition. Two other League One sides - Luton and Bristol Rovers - earned deserved draws against Liverpool and Fulham on Sunday. Havant & Waterlooville are the only non-league side left in the hat after holding Swansea in a feisty 1-1 draw. Bolton and Blackburn also paid the price for resting first-team regulars after being beaten by mid-table Championship clubs Sheffield United and Coventry respectively. But it was not only Premier League sides who rotated their squads with Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock selecting five 17-year-olds for their 2-0 defeat at Watford. In the last 12 years the FA Cup has been won by just four clubs - Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. Manchester United, with 11 wins, hold the record for the most FA Cup final victories. No fewer than 12 replays need to be decided before the round of the last 32 takes place on 26 and 27 January. Teams in the hat for the FA Cup fourth round: 1 Preston North End 2 Cardiff City 3 Peterborough United 4 Sheffield United 5 Coventry City 6 Mansfield Town 7 Walsall or Millwall 8 Charlton Athletic or West Bromwich Albion 9 Watford 10 Luton Town or Liverpool 11 Plymouth Argyle 12 Manchester United 13 Tranmere Rovers or Hereford United 14 Tottenham Hotspur or Reading 15 Arsenal 16 Middlesbrough 17 Fulham or Bristol Rovers 18 Huddersfield Town 19 Swansea City or Havant & Waterlooville 20 Wigan Athletic 21 Southend United 22 Oldham Athletic 23 Derby County or Sheffield Wednesday 24 Southampton 25 West Ham United or Manchester City 26 Portsmouth 27 Wolverhampton Wanderers 28 Barnsley 29 Chelsea 30 Stoke City or Newcastle United 31 Swindon Town or Barnet 32 Norwich City or Bury
  12. Not so sure. No manager goes their career without a few bumpy runs of results. Sam lost 3 out of 4 games and this thread got started.. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=47244.0 A thread started because of another newspaper article saying we'd all jump for joy if Shearer became manager and mostly full of people saying he shouldn't be manager until he's had some experience? Good example. Doesn't alter the fact there was a 5 page debate on the pros and cons of getting shearer in just a few weeks after we'd been sitting 5th. You've posted 7 times in this thread. That must mean you want Shearer the most! If everyone agreed there'd be no debate, so someone does. I will say this however, isn't it brilliant how all the papers over the last few days were full of comment on how we need to stick it out with Allardyce, how we're too trigger happy with managers and should learn to support through the bad as well as the good, but 7 (is it?) other clubs have got rid of their managers this season, some higher in the league. Haven't we already shown ourselves to be one of the most patient clubs/sets of fans.

  14. Never said we aren't doing bad, but we were fifth, had a bad run of results and a 5 page thread was started on the pros and cons of getting Shearer in. The fact the bad run has now spiralled into a terrible half marathon might have a little to do with that kind of pressure so early on.

  16. He has his reasons for doing that though!!! We might not know these reasons, but I'm sure he's not playing players out of position because he has an agenda to make us fail!!! We may not agree with these reasons, but we should just let him f****** get on with it and see where that takes us. He's playing players out of position BECAUSE OF SHEARER! Didn't you read the article? It's the ghost of Shearer that's causing the team to play poorly. It's so obvious now I've had it explained to me by a clever newspaperman. I posted this earlier: "Dont think the writer or article is shearer bashing in any way. What the man says is true. NUFC does have a penchant for the emotive. We really ARE suffering from what he calls messiahtitis or whatever. This is why it's essential that this period, with Ashley at the top, Mort running the show, and big sam on the touchline be separated mentally from the past 15 years of Newcastle's history, where messiahs have come and gone on a consistent basis (Hall, Keegan, Beardsley, Shearer, SBR), and where we ultimately achieved f*** all. The club needs a true fresh start, which the aforementioned ashley-mort-allardyce are trying to give us. We need to spare them the weight of our unrealistic expectations, and just let them f****** get on with it". is what he is trying to say I think UV is being wilfully obtuse and misrepresenting the article because it's bang on about the "Allardyce out" brigade.

No, he's playing players out of position because he genuinely doesn't feel that Milner is a right-winger, obviously thinks Smith is a better midfielder than Emre... He's got a point on both counts.
  18. "we can all see it" until Sam shows us we're wrong too. Milner on the right, Zoggy on the left, Enrique at left back, Smith up front, 4-4-2....and we're still shit.
  19. This is exactly the sentiment I was going to post over the weekend...but never got round to. Perfectly put.
  20. Santini left because his wife was unwell. Perrin had a win ratio under 20%. Le Guen had Rangers' worst start in 30 years. Allardyce still has us higher than last year and in the cup. I think that's why the papers advocate patience. Because he deserves it more. hahahahaahahahaha!!! get to fuck. Higher in the league than last year?? Fucking brilliant, that. Well done Sam. £25m, 9 players in, and we're HOW MANY places better off? Allardyce is a fucking idiot, and the sooner he gets the bullet, the better. Sorry, I forgot, climbing the league means nothing, we just want instant Brazillian football from a 90% unintegrated team.

  22. I reckon Oliver will be the prank call on Tony Horne this Monday.
  23. You can say you're not interested inthe job without it being an absolute. Take Roeder for example. Shearer probably knows his own mind a bit better than Roeder, and sticks to his word. Traits that would make him a better manager than Roeder was. Like when he said he would retire? He's probably learned from that particular mistake.
