  1. He's never got 10 goals or assists at any club in his whole career. Even when he's made between 40 and 50 appearances. Pardew has got more end product from him than any other manager in fewer games. Doesn't tally with Pardew being to blame for inhibiting him.
  2. http://i42.tinypic.com/9t03mo.jpg Ordered from least effective long shooters to most effective. Poor old Sunderland
  3. http://www.squawka.com/teams/newcastle-united/stats#total-goals-scored#english-barclays-premier-league#season-2013/2014#64#all-matches#1-19#goal-mouth-zone Click on the tab marked "pitch view" and you can see that 7 of the goals have come from outside the box. There are lots and lots of other interesting tidbits throughout the site. That's great, cheers.
  4. Careful how you word your argument. We hit less long balls per game than Man U...but they hit more short passes per long pass.
  5. Similar request. Anyone know where you can find where each teams goals have been scored from - inside or outside the box. I've got the shots from whoscored and was interested that Newcastle have had a higher percentage of shots from outside the box than any other team. Wondered how many of those translated to goals scored.

  7. Pardew was always quick to make (what I think were legitimate) excuses for the catastrophic run of results mid-season last year, and for the humiliations later on. He's not so quick to look for external factors that might have led to our current position. Highest on that list to me would be the world cup coming down the way which has seen a large proportion of our squad bust a gut like we never saw last season to secure their international squad position.
  8. Which side man for man are we better than in the last seasons top 6 who we should be looking to bump out of it? Someone tweeted yesterday that they wouldn't swap any of our starting 11 for any of the Arsenal starting 11. I thing that's shite, but I wouldn't necessarily be interested in swapping even half of those players with them.
  9. The drop off from Hull to Everton, from Liverpool to Sunderland to Stoke is in games started. He only started more than 2 games in a row in the in the first few games of the season though. His performances at that time peaked at Villa. Perhaps he felt his own game suffered against Hull where he was poor but it was his most passing game for us, so against Everton he tried his own thing more..and was woeful.
  10. I think we'll spend some canny wedge next month. If we don't it's going to be pretty downbeat come the home derby.
  11. “I keep saying to (Ben Arfa) that Gouffran and Sissoko have set the standard here – the sort of standard that you would expect at Bayern Munich from their wide players – and that’s what we need from him,” said Pardew. “If he brings that and (his) talent, then he’ll get a regular place in the team.” Ben Arfa's not listening if he thinks he can single handedly score his way into the first team.
  12. The comparison between me spending 20 minutes this morning looking at Ben Arfa's passing and him spending his life on here is what I was referring to though. Given that he said I'M the one that needs to get a life.
  13. I'd like to think we can do Everton at our place and take 7th place off them. We've taken more points off the top 7 than they have and if we can just cut out the stupid points we've lost at home to the likes of West Ham, Hull and Southampton we should be able to keep in competition with them. The Spurs resurgence isn't particularly convincing either. They've still not beaten anyone in the top 8 so 6th isn't out of the question.
  14. My first posts in weeks because I'm at work during the quietest time of the year. When was the last day you didn't post on here, even in your own time?

  16. At least 5 points above Swansea.
  17. That's one interpretation. I don't think it fits the repeating trend we see with Ben Arfa though. His pass/touch percentages.... http://i44.tinypic.com/30m5ycj.jpg He plays a few games in a row and reverts to his natural style of doing it all himself. Pardew then intervenes and hammers it in his head to pass. He comes back and pases more than the game that led to him being dropped...but soon goes back to what he wants to do if he keeps getting on the field which is everything himself. The pattern becomes more pronounced as the season goes on and he gets frustrated at not playing (especially after a good performance), but I don't think the end product we saw in one game against 9 men has led to any greater or lesser amount of greed, it's just the way he'll always be.
  18. Kinda... http://www.fourfourtwo.com/statszone/8-2013/matches/695045/player-stats/28301/OVERALL_02#tabs-wrapper-anchor
  19. Shouldn't be forgotten. He's still shit.
  20. Nah. Current Premier leagure era (20 teams) I think the best point total at this stage for a relegated team is 17 points for Burnley in 09/10. They were sat in 11th having won 5 out of 14, but they only won 3 more games all season. Prior to that, when the league was bigger Palace were 10th with 19 points after 14 games and still got relegated in 1995.
  21. What does it all mean HF? Are we looking likely to finish 5th again? And what do the stats say after that? You can see we're still off the pace of that 5th place finish...and that took a spell towards then end better than any he's had otherwise at Newcastle. Don't put your house on 5th.
