Paully is correct, it was disallowed to give US a free kick for one of their players being offside. That's why everyone was so annoyed. There was no need to blow. If the ref had just waited a half second to see if there was an advantage, we'd have Lee scoring from his own half with his weaker foot.

I'm more interested in the system than the personnel. That's where I want to see change.
-
It's not even just that Ben Arfa didn't play, it's who played in his place whilst he sat on the bench. We had some right shit that could barely trap a bag of cement stinking up his place in the team, whilst he sat warming his arse on the touchline. Utterly rage inducing.

Reminds me that one of my recurring drunken football arguments is that players should wear paper shirts (Or a material with similar properties) so that any shirt pullling just leads to the offender being left holding a handful of paper whilst the attacker runs off. Instant booking for the offender because he can't deny the offence when he's standing there with a handful of shirt, and doesn't actually stop the attack either. Catch me on Dragons Den next week.

You're right, it was Nolan. I think I'm conflating that effort with one Ranger had in a different match which he flashed just wide, but can't seem to find that clip or even remember what match it was.
-
Just for the occasion and what it would have meant, but Nile Ranger vs Arsenal? We were 4-0 down, got it back to 4-4 with Tiote's legendary screamer, but people forget we very nearly won it right at the death when Ranger flashed one a foot wide of the post. If that had gone in, firtsly it would ahve been a very good goal in its own right, but add in the context of overturning a 4-0 deficit to win a match and I think it would have been historic.

Haha was just typing Rob Lee vs Brentford. I was in the Milburn paddock in front of where he hit it from. Still raging. The only answer. Close the thread.
-
Isn't that literally what he did at Everton? Different circumstances of course, but still.
-
He now owns the land all the way up into space above that strip, so he'll be trying to block stadium expansion plans for the East Stand unless we pay handsomly, as we can't build over the top of it without his permission. That's the play.

Looked just like a knock, maybe just a dead leg, nothing serious. Should be back by February.

By your own logic we already have 2 right wingers. Also wanting a GK doesn't mean we're not looking at wingers too If nobody wants to sell us a good winger for a decent price, our options are: 1) overpay and fuck us for the next FFP window 2) waste good money on someone who's barely an upgrade, again where FFP is so crucial meaning we possibly can't afford a really good winger later 3) Wait until a top target is available at a reasonable price Which option do you want us to go for? Especially as seemingly the club are going for 3 and your not happy, so I presume you're in favour of 1 or 2?
-
Didn't realise he had 15 in 40, which is very decent and probably alone justifies at least what he went for. "Young" seems pushing it though at what, 24? Probably won't push on too much from there. Not one minute in the PL either. Not a big fee for him, that's for certain. I'd want a bit more more. All this tells me is that I'm hoping Ipswich go down this year, as doubtless that's linked to the mackems getting the extra £5m. Absolutely nothing against Ipswich but someone's got to go down so it might as well be a team that keeps the mackems poor.
-
What profile? I only know of him because he's discussed on here, and that's mostly with ridicule, laughing at how the mackems bang on about him despite him having done basically nothing of note. I reckon if you asked Tottenham or West Ham fans about him, almost nobody will have heard of him.
-
Really hope we've left Parish holding his cock whilst we've gone shopping elsewhere.
-
Haha that would be some grift - buy Sunderland for £60m, free transfer Clarke to your other club, then sell Sunderland for £55m
-
Oh we will, because we're still paying for every single player we've amortised since the takeover. That's how this works, which nobody seemed willing or able to grasp at the time - Bruno might have "only" cost £8m the year we signed him, but he'll continue to cost us £8m every year until 2027. Same for everyone else we've signed.
-
Be an honour to see him rip it up for Brighton after we flog him next June to sort out our FFP issues again.

Depends really. If you're talking about us making their model fail by buying their players cheaply, then you're agreeing with me. I said we shouldn't buy them at a profit (when wages / signing on fees they've paid are also taken into account) though I'd make exceptions for genuine youth players who've come through the ranks of course, that's "normal". I'm talking specifically about their player hoarding model of buying anyone and everyone just to flip for profit. But if they pay £20m plus a £3m signing on fee and £2m wages for someone and we come in and pay £40m for them, they're ahead and their model will be profitable. I don't want that, and we can't support or facilitate that kind of player hoarding for profit. If you're OK with it then fine, but I'm certainly not. It's awful. On the flip side, if they buy someone for a total outlay of £50m and we can take them for £25m I'm all for it. You're saying "they look completely lost" and in some ways they're floundering round, but they finished above us. They qualified for Europe. They're one good managerial appointment away from turning this right round and being a top 4 team. The margins are very fine. Saying "Let's keep enabling them" when they're banking lots of money and can easily suddenly get it right is very dangerous. Personally I'd rather see them financially ruined.
-
I don't care how good Disasi is or isn't, I'm vehemently against us supporting Chelsea's business model. Unless we can buy one of their players for less than they paid, we should look elsewhere. What they're doing needs to be made to fail.
-
How would that change in any other scenario? Also valuing player A at £65m doesn't mean you're willing to spend £65m on player B.
-
Not really. We can start moves for other players whilst still leaving this offer on the table.
-
Thanks but a statue seems overkill, I'm just shitposting when bored.
-
Anyone saying they 'detest' a player who absolutely grafts his bollocks off and plays with a massive smile on his face all the time needs to frankly GTF. He has limitations, and I'm as annoyed as anyone by his utter refusal to use his right foot, but we need a little perspective here.
-
Completely ambivalent about this. I love a new signing as much as anyone but it's crazy money and I'd be equally happy for us to walk away and move on to other targets. There must be brilliant defenders out there on the continent or even further afield who could be bought for half that money.
