Not to turn this into a VAR discussion, but watching that one of my first thoughts was how much better enjoying those goals was without any VAR doubt. Ridiculous day, felt like I couldn't believe what was happening. It being in the context of being newly promoted made it extra enjoyable too.

We had not yet re-qualified for the CL, that was an important game for us. I agree though it was quite a lot less memorable than the previous season's. I put that partly down to the previous year being our first win over them in a while (it was my first win over them in a while - it was my 6th in a row tie with them and first win, the only win in my memory being the Roker I couldn't go to) and the fact Solano scoring a pen at the other end of the pitch was a lot less memorable than Dabizas scoring right with our fans.

I went in 99/00, 00/01, 01/02, 02/03, 05/06, 07/08, 08/09, 10/11 and 12/13 and went on the buses every time.

I'm worried about Bruno and Big Joe being too up for it and getting sent off.

We're now only 4 goals off conceding what we did in the whole of last season. (33 last season, 29 so far this) I'd say 6th is best reasonably-likely scenario.

Re those ‘contact but not a foul’ pens - don’t think VARs ever going to overturn them. Hopefully VAR wouldn’t have awarded it if ref hadn’t either

Staying Sydney for a few weeks, naturally I had to make a pilgrimage up to Australian Newcastle. Went today and saw them beat Western United in an A-league game. Picked up a shirt. About 6k there in a 30k stadium. Very family friendly with a pocket of about 20 ultra lads in 'Terrace Novocastria'. Very weird hearing all the 'come on Newcastle' and that (not to mention the road signs for Jesmond and Wallsend). Saw one toon top in the crowd.
