  1. Saw an Eritrean restaurant quite near the Emirates. Worrying.
  2. There is a decent chance Forest Chelsea draw, and in that case a draw is enough for us. We should be going for a win like obviously, but I can see us not needing it.
  3. Oh well. Could’ve won that on a different day, neither at best, probably a pretty forgettable match. I was here two years ago for the 0-0 and was really impressed with the atmosphere, that’s gone. Conversely it was better in our end - until they scored - than the other two London games I went to this season. However the negativity from some man, can’t understand it. Gordon got loudly called a scouse cunt by multiple people. All round if I was to bet I’d have put it on 0-1. Disappointing but we can and should still do this. The one thing that could’ve gone worse this weekend is if we got battered or Chelsea thumped ManU - valuable to have that GD advantage over Chelsea on last day in case both games a draw.
  4. Arsenal already has the word arse in it, you don’t need to change that bit
  5. Not confident at all for this but Howay the lads!! Get into them
  6. Remember when we re-signed him in 2006. Good times.
  7. I get it’s more complicated with the teams wining European competitions but it’s been like that for domestic cups for ages, don’t know how it keeps getting asked! With the Arsenal VAR ‘was it out so-called controversy it was amazing to find out how many fans don’t know it has to be the whole ball.
  8. Agree a draw is better than a loss but not that a win is better than a loss! They lose today and that means Forest win last day and we’re good even if we lose both games (unless we get battered)
  9. Forest drop points tomorrow then beat Chelsea and we need fuck all, granted we don’t get battered. edit: I mean Sunday
  10. Even if we lose sunday, it would be very helpful if it's not a 4+ battering so we can go into the last game with a GD/GS advantage over Chelsea. Nice that although they won it was just 1-0. That way if Chelsea Forest draw (a reasonably likely scenario), a draw would be enough for us regardless of Villa and regardless of West Ham v Forest.
  11. With only two games left, there's a path to us both finishing on 69 points, 69 goals scored and the same GD. Equal, very much in the spirit of 69.
  12. 6-2 win for Chelsea tonight and we'll have equal points, GD and goals scored. Guess then we'd be top on head to head?
  13. The way football has changed bothers loads of fans. In the 60s-80s there wasn't anything like as much reason to fear the club being stripped of its ties to the community, city and history as there is now. Who the club is 'for' from the perspective of the owners has changed massively then. Consequently I think it's natural to want to hang on to what we've got, retain tradition etc.
  14. The oldest of our previous badges was just seven years old, so I doubt there'd have been a big fuss. We've had the current one for 37 years. (city crest obvs older but had only been on our shirt for seven years) There's also more reason to be protective of such things now than in the 70s-80s I believe, due to the complete transformation of english football's role in the world.
  15. 4. They're all there. It's the longest-lived one. The first three were pretty brief. (1969-76, 1976-83, 1983-88, 1988-) https://www.newcastleunited.com/en/news/updating-our-crest-together
  16. We'd already have almost wrapped up finishing above Chelsea if just Liverpool didn't play their reserves against them. They'd have to improve their goal difference relative to us by at least seven in their last two games, while winning both and us losing both.
  17. Beat Man City away, drew with Liverpool away and also drew with Arsenal away in the FA Cup (beating them on pens). They drew at home with Chelsea in the reverse of tonight's fixture. All a while ago though.
  18. No. And even with the Fender presale I think my O2 presale through my phone contract got me in earlier.
  19. Don't think the issue is them calling themselves United, or people from the area. Makes sense for people in Manchester, differentiating between two Manchester teams. I'd expect people in Sheffield referring to United to mean SheffU. It's about the rest of the country. Same with City. People locally did refer to us as United sometimes. See nufc.com for example of older gen still doing it. It's getting killed off by ManU's dominance. Tbh doesn't actually bother me that much, slightly irks. I'd prefer us be known as Newcastle than United anyway. Seems like a losing battle, but I'd never naturally call them United. They're ManU.
  20. This is kind of thing people would take the piss out of the mackems for. He’s won Liverpool’s second title in 30 odd years in his very first season.
  21. Seems strange since that always was likely on the cards
  22. He said 'could'. Given that scenario also requires Chelsea losing to Forest, odds are probably our GD would not be worse than theirs. Suffice to say the collection of circumstances required for us to finish 7th are possible but pretty remote!
