I reckon I was pretty happy with Howe from the start, though maybe not as excited as for Emery. What he did with Bournemouth was clearly a big achievement and never saw the eventual relegation as negating that. However I did start to question him last year when it started to feel like we’d been mediocre for about a year (Nov to Nov).

Got to be wind up click bait

We're on 12 wins from 16 in the league since that Brenford shit away. 18 from 23 including the cups. 4 defeats in normal time and one AET. That's over 4 months, with all the defeats coming within 6 weeks in late Jan-Feb.

It would be good but it’s not a vital at all. Even if we lost to *both* Palace and Villa that’d leave us only 1 point behind them with a much better GD, and them with Man City up next. Never mind if we’d beaten Palace. They’re in a substantially worse position than that right now (2 points behind, one more played, much worse GD) and you’d never write them off.

[LCF] Newcastle United 2-1 Liverpool - NUFC LEAGUE CUP WINNERS

We did it lads. -
I wouldn't rule out him having another good run in him, but he's not showing enough for us to persist just in case that comes. Would love him to get a last goal in a dead rubber once we've tied up second place.
-
I really wish they'd mandate a return to two-season home kits. As well as being silly expensive keeping up, would mean we didn't have to cycle through all these designs so quickly
-
Tomorrow is big, but it's not the be and end all - we've not fucked it if we lose, we'd still be 4th and in a good position.
-
I fancy Villa to finish above Chelsea looking at the fixtures and Chelsea's form.
-
If we want to step up a level, we need to be chipping away at closing down Man City and Chelsea, in terms of spending power, prestige/attraction and league positions. Would rather do that, even if it means Villa are coming up with us too. That'll be a long road with Man City but us getting CL and Chelsea not would mean we're really starting to become attractive relative to Chelsea - it'd mean CL for 2 years in 3 for us, and none for Chelsea in that timeframe.

I keep staring at the table.

So good that all the goals were free of any VAR nonsense too -
It's very nice that Villa and Man City face each other a few days after we play Villa - nice to know that if we lose to Villa (quite likely) they or Man City are definitely dropping points in the next game.

It's a lesson to me in how imperfect a good team can be for spells, and to chill out a bit. There was a time around November and then again after the Fulham defeat that shortly followed Bournemouth where I just couldn't see us being top 5 - we just blew too many games. Yet here we are.

Between this and my soggy Five Guys burger yesterday, rarely has the stock I give a poster’s assessment dropped from so high to so low over one weekend. -

What a weekend man - never saw Chelsea dropping points and we easily could’ve. Forest dropping all three. Class. -

Not missed a home game yet this season apart from when I've been away - never cut it this fine though, really raised the stakes on the site refreshing. Going to be such a buzz if I manage it. -
That is a cracking result - to know that even a draw tomorrow will mean we’ve gained on Forest. Let’s win though!
-
Fucking hell, get well soon Eddie!

Mad that 56 points was enough to get us 5th in Bobby's last season
-
It was widely reported he fancied leaving, but I was never under the impression he was trying to force a move.

I just learned a young Jimmy Bullard was playing for Peterborough when we beat them 4-2 in the FA Cup in 2002

I think he’s a solid squad back up CB, assuming his quality isn’t heavily impacted by his injury. (Then the mentioned leadership benefits too)
