I know we have till monday to sign players. But I thought foreign teams would have to finish up today. Or is it for all clubs around the world ? Otherwise wouldn't a player have to be sold by foreign clubs today

Yes he has. But and a big but is we support this club and surely we all want to see a sign of the club moving forward and improving. If you buy a football club you should look to take it forward and I genuinely hope he is doing that. Some of the things I have mentioned in other threads suggest he has put a few good things in place like the academy, scouting etc. But the first team needs work and needs to be right first

If that was the case I'd be embarrassed for our fans. It's his money but he doesn't decide, for the most part, who we do or don't sign. No denying it would be. But there are some tits that go to the away matches and if he hasn't then it could be very uncomfortable if we get beat a few times. I think something on the playing side needs to show some sign of improvement in the next year otherwise I will start to question what the difference is. We are still doing things last minute and that needs to change. Its all good and well getting young players in but we need to have a good team to introduce these players to the first team. We are a long way off a strong team let alone squad. 4 players would go someway to help this but we were a small squad last year and will be as small this time round also

I don't personally think defence is our problem. Its that shambles of a midfield. You need a midfield that can keep the ball and knows when to play tight and when to spread out and create the space. Butt is to slow and does not seem to do much these days. I like nzogbia but he can be so frustraing and needs to play a bit keep ball now and again. Jonas by far is our most technically gifted midfield player by the looks of it. He is always looking for players running to create chances and knows when to play it simple. His movement is good. Guthrie is a young lad and I think he looks promising but he needs to try and set the tempo and learn to dictate the game if he is going to be anything more than a midfielder that knocks some safe passes around. Today also showed how much we miss martins. He is our best player by a mile. When he plays you have someone to aim for. He causes all sorts of problems. I just don't see that with owen. I think we should get a suitable partner for martins and we might see better performances. Owen is not that for me. He is dropping to deep these days and simply cant lead the line like martins can. If we get a couple of midfielders(centre attacking, right winger) a Striker (mobile striker to run and create space) and maybe a more defensive midfielder who has good positioning and can play a ball then and only then will I think we have a good chance of finishing in the top 6. These 4 types of player would give us a different shape all together and would allow us to both create better in numbers. At present our midfield is shocking at ball retention and setting the tempo.

Once the transfer window shuts on Monday will be the time to judge if wise, jiminez, vetere, keegan and ashley are playing from the same hymm sheet. If they are then I would expect the next transfer window to be well planned after Wise and that have had longer to put plans in place. The positives I see since january are: -We actually have a scouting system now -From this we are digging players out from nowhere(which I have screamed on about clubs like arsenal etc doing for years. -The academy is being concentrated on and from this I would expect us to continue to snap up talent across the world/country/area for years to come. This should strengthin the squad in years to come and mean losing a player does not mean we always have to buy another but can promote players from within - from this reserve games may be actually watchable - We should be in a key position to bring the right players in straight away - With keegan we will always and I mean always have a go at teams and will eventually change other clubs thinkin about us being an easy game. Then they will worry about attacking us at st james - We will play attacking football and thus should see a lot more goals than we have. - eventually the press will realise that the club is more stable than it has been in a long time. This will mean all the crap will eventually stop. - You get to listen to positive interviews with KK every week which makes you happy and chirpy - You don't have to listen to boring cunts like sam,roeder,souness anymore(for a while) - Hopefully when Kev leaves they will have a replacement that can continue his good work(Daglish never was going to be that)

I think its right what he said. Every player is not untouchable and every player has their price. If someone offered 10 - 15 mil for owen thats a good price. With milner 10 - 12 was more than enough tbh and I think we could buy two players from the continent that would prove to be better. English players are so overrated tbh. I could not care less if he goes if we get the sort of money being thrown about for him (as long as we replace him) and he really is replaceable never really shines against top teams and is to slow with the ball, shocking at crossing etc. I really don't see what he gives us. Hard working etc. He is basically a plodder that on occasions pulls of something half decent. But more often than not is very frustrating.
