Hat trick today for him or a sending off within 5 mins. Really want him to succeed, if his heads right and focuses on the game and not just battling opponents he's a handful. I think he will take his chance if he starts today

This is what our club is about once we get momentum and not one person outside of our club understands it. It's not about being the greatest club, it's about hope and the hope that we will give it a go in every match. Rafa wants to win every game even if only 1-0 and he plays the media perfectly. Yes this may be "lower league" but if he is allowed to continue controlling it and backed by the club we won't be in the Makems position of fighting for 17th. It will be hard for him to get us in the top 6 in Premier League with the teams there, but he will build us into a professional, balanced squad for the first time in a long time and hopefully put foundations in place to lift this club further. If not this season within 3 years we will get to a cup final.

He's got a decent turn of pace and love the runs he goes on occasionally. Potentially a top signing by Rafa. Cant help but think PNE will get a shock when they see Shelvey play going by their forum :-) That's the thing with this league not being televised as much, you don't really know how certain players play.

I don't know how they can be so confident, yes they have a few to come back in but we have quality and a good tempo going. We could trip ourselves up having won 6 in a row and may end up with a draw or narrow defeat but to be so confident is just weird.

I think the attraction of a Gayle/Mitro combination appeals to us all in some way but we may as well be realistic, Rafa will not do it, unless injuries give him no option or we're chasing a game late on. He just doesn't do two up front. Yip good post. We have shown plenty of creativity in this system and the balance is fantastic. I would have liked to see Gayle and Mitro together up front but this systems suites us much better at the moment and is creating patterns of play we have not been capable of for so long. Some of the short triangles yesterday were excellent. It's the same formation our previous managers tried but did not know how to execute it. Compare to how hard we found passing a ball a few yards last season and our sluggish play and it's slick, players supporting each other, retention first. Play mixed up and attacking from all angles. I don't think we need 2 strikers because we have a attacking 3 that contribute behind Gayle or Mitro and they no longer look as isolated all the time.

Where've you heard this then? Exclusively on here, mainly since we were relegated. If he actually jumped for the ball rather than try and fight his man everytime with just strength he would be a lot more effective. I like how Rafa has compensated for the lack of Shelvey and Gayle by having pace, skill and crossing on wing with Mitrovic in centre. Hayden can pick a pass as well, added to Yedlin overlapping it looks like a well balanced team tbh

Has that Bailly been any good for them? They have a shocking defence and midfield compared to the other teams up there now

I always thought he liked balance and thought Schneiderlin would suit his style.

While I agree it will be tougher for him in Premier League, he finds space well and drops in when required. He is showing short and long passing range and happy to drop it off to defenders if being tracked. He's a class player if he keeps that consistency he has shown in last 10 games and we haven't had a midfielder with that passing ability for a long time, I have faith in Rafa to keep him right and to look a bargain at the 12 million we paid.

No point buying anyone unless they can make the step up, if we are in same position in Jan we will have more than enough to win the league.

Think he misplaced 1 pass all game, good movement to find space as well. He is also aware when to lay it off or play it back whereas previously he used to just try Hollywood shit all the time

Absolutely correct. We were rotten and slowly the club is being mended. Players that want to be here and a manager that can drive us on. We may play shit football and lose some awful games but there has been a massive amount of progress since that first game. I think once we get through the tough first part of season our squad will shine through and we will go up. I just hope if we do that the board back Rafa and don't fuck him about. At least give him the chance to build our club and see where it goes. He needs 3-5 years with the boo boys settling down and showing some patience. I was pissed off when people booed at end of Wolves game, so fuck we lost, get over it.
