  1. He probably just wants options and bonus he can play multiple positions, absolutely no idea if he can play them well at this level. Nothing wrong with having 4 or 5 centre halves of course and he may be 5th in line so wouldn't be greatest and just for cover.
  2. Good enough at this level though? Competent defender ? Would be nice to have natural cover at the back. Can't say I have seen much of him and tbh thought left back, centre mid, attacking mid, striker and winger would be required for squad. I'm sure we will still sign a couple of attackers.
  3. We should also sign Knockaert and Forestieri just to weaken opponents
  4. In the championship probably not. We're going to be the big fish here so it's more likely the onus will be on us to break teams down who are sitting deep. I hope we're also looking to bring in someone with a bit of creativity in the middle. various people keep saying this but no-one really says what they mean or what type of player they are talking about, is a(nother) number 10 you're on about or a different type of CM? Different type of CM personally, although with this signing I doubt that happens now. such as? genuine question mind, i'm really at a loss to understand what people want that's different from say diame, shelvey & hayden for example will hughes or someone like that? Hughes would be a class signing next and final would give us a good mix in Midfield really. And they said Rafa wouldn't know this league, he seems to know exactly the type of player he needs to get out of it and understands balance
  5. Yes to this, what a good signing. Always liked the look of him
  6. We need a centre mid, left back and another striker as well as winger so could see only one of them coming in. We will get Knockaert I reckon
  7. Yeah you just know Rafa will find a sensible balanced solution to the issue that won't include playing extra defenders or putting players out of position

    Adam Armstrong

Adam Campbell was never the best striker in League One. Some people seem to go out of their way to talk down local players, as if it proves what a detached and rational fan they are. Armstrong scored 20 goals in League One at the age of 18 - it's just so clearly moronic to write someone off immediately following that. This, I couldn't care where he comes from I still wouldn't write a player off at that age. Not every player is a Rooney or a Shearer at that age and the fact he scored so many different types of goals at 18 shows there is something there. We have to try and develop our players and not just write them off. You only have to look at the league last season to see players at 25 or older that dropped to non-league because someone thought they weren't good enough. If by 22 he isn't a regular we should dump him but not at 19

    Adam Armstrong

he runs and chases but with very little purpose, and yes he can finish but needs a clear opening to do it Granted I haven't seen as much of him as you, but the goals of his I saw last season contradict that no, he can score at a level, 1st division level which is much slower, but remember he had a great run of goals then he went missing for a long period at Cov and couldn't score once he was sussed out That's like most strikers, they go on runs where they can't score and then they adjust / regain form.

    Adam Armstrong

ive watched this lad in the reserves, and first team squad, since he was 16 and he has pace but is very erratic in his football. he runs and chases but with very little purpose, and yes he can finish but needs a clear opening to do it it.he's not stong enough to lead a line at all. i wanted him to do it but to me he isnt a very good striker , no matter how long a run he gets in the team he won't make it, when he has had his wee chances he's in effect done nothing that shows me he can be a top flight striker, already Gayle looks twice the player he is. sorry but Arma is not the answer and is out of his depth Gayle is 6 years older and played in Championship / premier league for a lot more games. Armstrong had 1 season on loan playing proper football and scored 20 goals. I don't buy this size thing, the centre halves at that level will be physical and he managed just fine. Strikers don't have to be 6ft if the team accommodates it. Gayle isn't that tall. Defoe had the ba lumped at him and manages to score because he has that instinct and gets on the end of things. Armstrong might never lead the line on his own but I dont think we should be too tough on a 19 year old with 1 full season behind him and trying to make it at his home club with all the pressure that brings.

Can't believe people's opinion of a 19 year old that has had the odd appearance for us. He clearly has something about him. Would rather we keep him and give him sub appearances during the season
  12. It's called having a squad and probably wants to see more of Anita there. Anita works hard and will probably suit that type of role Just wondering how it's looking, man. How's Vurn doing there when we're at home and up. I know what squad rotation means. I know, it's just been a long time since we had half a one and a manager that can get them playing

    Rolando Aarons

Yeah having more than 2 wingers at the club would be a good idea. Aarons looks on form though in pre-season clips so hope he gets the games and a new contract. On the flip side he tends to get an injury that keeps him out a while so sensible to have another option
  15. If they had actually backed Keegan things would have been different. We were linked with Modric and Sweinsteiger that summer and both got knocked on the head. We could have had both for 15-20 mil if I remember right
  16. Whether we get him or not I'm glad we are buying wingers at last, been so unbalanced for years.
  17. For the like the hundredth time that I've seen on this forum, I'm glad you have absolutely nothing to do with the running of this club. I'll leave it up to the people in the charge with far more nous and forward thinking than you. Having wingers that just run in straight lines and get down wing is just not that effective these days, you need players cutting inside and overlapping fullbacks to try and stretch / overload defences. I think you need 1 player playing on their natural side I.e. Aarons, although he cuts inside and has the pace and movement to do it. Doesn't Ritchie use both feet, sure I have seen him cross and shoot with both.
  18. I like Rafa, therefore he can do whatever he likes

They are currently debating how well the current squad could do and quite a number think top 10 easy, really :-) and we are the deluded ones, they were nearly relegated with that squad and do they not realise their end of season form has little to do with Jan signings and more to do with there usual last 7 game run. I mean Moyes may very well turn them into a mid-table or above team but to claim it will instantly gonna happen is as deluded as us believing we will walk the Championship and then challenge for Europe
  20. We should keep a hold if we can. I would have faith in Rafa helping him regain form and a year down there where his technical skills might show with other players doing the physical work might help.
