  1. That's gone though and I've said it loads of times, Ashley, or his mouth piece keeps telling us that he's not taking money out. At this time the club is running at a profit, by that I mean this financial year as I have always recognised what he has put in up until now. The club must have made a profit in the year ended June 2011 in both cash and accounting terms. I predict heated discussions on here at some point on whether repayment of a loan is taking money out of the club or not...... I think you might be right! And about whether or not reducing the debt burden on the club actually makes it more attractive to new buyers I guess.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

To be fair we hammered them llast season without him, i'm sure we can do the same again Who scored a hat trick in that game again ? And is he still here ? You're right, I forgot the only way to beat a team was to put out exactly the same lineup from the last time you beat them and wait for the exact same match to happen again. It might be to hold on to one of your best goalscorers to give yourself a better chance in the next game. Nah, would rather not have to rely on a bloke that was blowing out his arse after 60 minutes of most games to be hoenst. Better off replacing him with proper athletes. Fair enough as far as it goes, but how many of these proper athletes(presumably the close season signings) have you seen play and what are their goalscoring record like ? Well Demba Ba's isnt too shabby to be fair is it? Lets not forget, Nolans goals dried up big time when Carroll left, what was it, 2 after he left? And when he didnt score he didnt contribute, or contributed very little at least. It might have been a good idea to make some attempt to hold onto Carroll as well. SILLY MONEY I would rather have Carroll than the money, which we know isn't going top be spent. You can't sit and watch a balance sheet. Bet Mike does I bet he's more sobbing than wanking when he looks at ours though.

    Alan Pardew

I'm with you on this one, I doubt any self respecting manager would want to be in the position Pardew finds himself in. I doubt the job of managing the club has ever been as low as it is now. If I was a football manager I wouldn’t touch our job, and I say that as a Newcastle supporter who loves the club. I think the job appealed to managers less after KK's departure than it does now. People objected to the sacking of Hughton, but there was always the excuse that he wasn't proven in the Premier League and was inexperienced.

Well if it turns out that we run at a profit this year, then that's a fact and there's no argument about it either way. If you've always recognised previous years and what he's put in then great, we don't disagree.
  5. Willy McKay said they would have won the league if Barton had been playing for them last season. What a tool. Think it's more likely that he'd have punched out Abou Diaby, Cesc would have fled to Barcelona and Nasri would now be a Man Utd player!
  6. Almost breaking even to 37 million income must mean a profit, mustn't it? This season maybe, yes. The problem is all the the other years.
  7. Sounds like we were pretty close TBH. Even "top sources" can't read players minds and find out whether they want to come here.
  8. Exactly, it's not even a possibility unless we actually literally have nobody else who's ever played in defence. He started at LB against Kansas. I didn't know that, that is worrying. Guess it won't come up now as we'll need him to play on the right instead of Barton.
  9. the key word is "Reports", I suppose. True, but other reports suggest a fee hasn't been agreed. We do seem a bit eager to get the negative stuff in the thread titles. Not that it really matters. title is fine tbh, the reports a fee's been agreed is from some of more reliable sources of news Like I say, it doesn't really matter.
  10. The Michael Jackson statue at Craven Cottage puts the Fulham owner right at the top of the worst owner charts IMO.

  12. Following relegation, it could have been a lot, lot worse than that.

  14. He's not making any profit FFS, and likely never will unless he finds a Sheik with a few billion to spend on us. He's just minimising his outlay.
  15. Think Ashley needs to replace the helicopter with a cargo plane to fit all the players leaving! It's a chinook.
  16. Can we repost this every time people say we should follow Spurs' model of acheiving success without having to spend much? As long as it's together with the club accounts and profit/loss details, yes. You mean the extra cash the players they've spent money on earn them from league position, TV rights, european games etc? I just want all the actual facts so that we can be realistic about how much NUFC should be spending. I don't give a toss about Spurs.

  18. On a positive note I do agree with what Carver is saying about the young players. Sometimes a "crisis" like this creates the space for a young player to step up. Step up, play well, score some goals, be sold in January, yeah. Wake me up when you change the record.
  19. Midfield in : Marveaux Cabaye Midfield out : Barton Nolan Routledge Are we just disregarding Abeid? I was referring to players who were bought directly for the first 11. And Ben Arfa, Gosling and to a lesser extent Abeid. Also Vuckic is looking decent.

  21. 12m for Milner. Great business sense. 14m lost on Milner (to be worth 26m) + 30m lost from relegation + at least 10m lost from crowds, sponsorship and merchandising = Clueless football business sense. It's all just a little bit of history repeating. I was saying at the time that it was short-sighted to sell your best young players, but... Alright, let's look at the next few years. No hindsight needed. I hope and pray that the new signings are great, bed in well and quickly, stay injury free, and aren't sold at the first sign of them being any good. But if I had to put my predictive skills on the line I'd say that I foresee a relegation battle ahead sometime in the next 3 years. How about you? I don't see a relegation battle this season, hard to say in the future. Now that more of our players are on deals that fit into Ashley's masterplan (!), I'm hoping we'll see less big player sales. If that comes to pass, we should be fine with more of the types of signings we've been making in the past. By "fine" I mean not getting relegated and maybe finishing in the top 10, unless some of our cheap signings turn out to be very good.
  22. Why are they a mess exactly? Well they are buying an awful lot of players, have a bloated squad particularly in midfield but with still some doubts over things like their defence. They probably have no idea what their best team is, and there are a lot of question marks over whether the new players will be worth it or gel or adapt. Don't get me wrong, they've done some big business which would please me if I was a fan, but it's also a bit scattergun and it remains to be seen how successful they'll be. Let's not forget they were terrible for a lot of last season.
  23. Did he say that? No, not that bit, just we have a plan in place, im just making the other bit up. Ah I see.
