I don't think we'd want to be in for Bridge either, but I guess it might come to the point where we have to go for pretty much any LB that's available. FWIW I don't think he's a bad player, just he would be expensive and is too old.

The early performances of Vuckic, Abeid and Gosling have certainly made me feel better. Get a striker in, an Enrique replacement and maybe a CB and I'll be happy. Even without the CB we'd probably be fine. Always can do better, but it would be progress IMO.

Bearing in mind he was only just given a new contract, it seems very weird that we've suddenly decided he's beyond help. We've also stuck by Carroll and Barton even though they have done much worse things. I'm still not convinced his NUFC career is over, and if we do ship him out I think it's a mistake.

I think if Pards wants us to keep the ball & control midfield then its what we should look at, also without HBA for the start of the season then its gota be worth a try to test it out. Guess it slightly depends on the ability of Barton/Cabaye to get forward, but Ba will presumably be supported more by Marv and Jonas anyway. Either way, looking forward to seeing them all together for the first time.

I don't think changing Best for Long would be "retarded" at all. I'm not saying Long is a much better player than Best now, but he certainly has the potential to be. Long is also a better compliment to Ba/Shola/Ranger in that he's highly mobile, pacey and runs the channels hard. Also a good target for through balls from Barton/Cabaye. I like Best for what he did when given his chance last season, and it would be a tough decision to move him on, but Long certainly has the potential to be a very good signing for us. Also, if we are going to play one up front in some games you could argue that Best is only third choice behind Shola and BaBa.

Basically nothing is happening at this point, it's just a rumour.
