  1. Even he was stupid not to do due diligence, that doesn't change the reality of the current situation. It's a strange argument that because he spent too much buying the club, and it cost him much more than he expected, he should therefore spend even more now.
  2. How? Up there with the 'moves' for Kieran Richardson and N'Zogbia. Ashley/Llambias will have fed a line to the media to try and curry favour with fans. Ah yes, the Mike Ashley PR machine whirring away again. Somehow simultaneously manipulates the media to a never-before-seen degree and ends up looking incredibly bad with the public in the process. It's a whole new approach to public relations.
  3. Sorry to see the lad go permanently like, he definitely has ability if he could pull his finger out and work hard. Would have loved to see him loaned to a Champ club for a season to be whipped into shape. Seems a strange decision to sell him cheaply at this stage. Surely his value can only increase.
  4. Who says it is? They said it would be reinvested in the team and i dont expect all in one go ,the normal revenue for a football club that is used for transfers normall comes from that stream ,no one has said anything about that but its the promise of the Carroll money being spent that is the main point in question .Do you think the Carroll money should cover agents fees and wages etc ? I think the Carroll money, along with all our other income, should cover all our outgoings. I don't think it's normal practice for clubs to only spend money they've brought through outgoing transfers on incoming ones, or to make sure that they spend every penny of those fees only on new players. I know Pardew was unwise to say all of the Carroll money would be reinvested in the team, but we surely can't believe that a response like that in a pressure situation represents unshakeable NUFC policy. To hold that statement up as that just seems naive to me.
  5. It hasn't disappeared, it will be in the accounts. The club is making regular losses and has a load of debt. My whole point is that all income covers all outgoings, I don't see any reason to ring-fence the Carroll money like this (except that Pardew unwisely claimed it would be reinvested in the team).
  6. I basically agree with you mate, I've said before that it's easy to argue it would be reckless to spend the whole of that money now and not think of future seasons. My whole principle is that it's just some extra income for the club that goes onto the bottom line. Trying to justify the Carroll sale in retrospect by what we do with the money is futile IMO. We accepted the deal because we need money and the fee was too good to turn down. What we then do with the money should be assessed, but not as a way to justify or criticise the sale. Don't expect many people to agree, obviously.
  7. I know it isn't a direct quote which is why I referred to this stuff being "leaked" via (ex) Journal sources. I just don't see what Edwards has to gain from putting a negative spin on Zog coming here. If he's not putting the club point of view across why would he say that? As far as I can see he's just saying that Zoggy's character is like that. I don't see any reason to assume he's been fed that by the club. How much influence do think NUFC have on the content of Luke Edward's tweets? Luke Edwards was one of the more impartial journalists during his stint up here and I imagine he's got contacts close to the club still. His tweets fit with our stance on Zog whether by coincidence or design. Of course the club could still make us all look like mugs by swooping in and signing Zog but I think I'll go with Luke's version at this point. Do they? What is the club's stance on Zog like?

    Alan Pardew

We could finish in the top 10 with the players we have today IMO, no reason why not. Anyway, these targets are only guides anyway, obviously we'll try to finish as high as possible.

  10. Nobody from the club has questioned N'Zogbia's character.
  11. That's a tweet from Luke Edwards man, it isn't a quote from anyone at NUFC. Also, it's correct.

    Alan Pardew

One thing I'm sure if is that Pardew will go out to win every game we play.
  13. Why do you not think we planned to go for Ba Dave? And if we didn't, why did we change our mind suddenly?
  14. That's just reality though isn't it? If you go for top players they might turn you down, and if they do you need to have other targets.
  15. If they give Shola the number 9 I'll buy it and wear it with pride to his testimonial! Very tired today...
  16. Can't believe I was sucked in, the lad's clearly a crock.
  17. Aye, all incredible players. Loved watching Cannavaro and Pirlo in particular. Some of them were almost mythical characters growing up.
  18. Give it a rest man. getting a bit tiresome how everything positive turns into a negative by some. 'Oh we have signed Messi on the cheap because of some random clause?' 'What is it with us signing players on these fucking clauses!?' To be fair, people could equally say that to those of us who try to look on the positive side. I just find it a bit depressing, especially since our business so far has actually been pretty good.
  19. Shola could play a part imo. I agree, in a more mobile team that keeps the ball better he might actually look half decent.
  20. That's what his handsome sidekick Cabaye is there for.
