I still think it's not completely clear that we need someone other than Bruno for the central role. I know it's an endless debate but he's really good there. Really good. Chelsea ran two DMs yesterday and they really did almost nothing. And they cost £100m each.

I would like to think we have a list of strategic priorities, a list of targets and all that, and the recruitment staff will continue with it.

There shouldn’t be any battle about influence. Not sure there is TBH. Howe is a modern manager and we’re a modern club now. I believe that Howe is sensible enough to know the role of a manager.

Yeah, but even that is ignoring the other factors. It’s nice to use kids when you can but you can’t say one approach is always better than the other.

Hmm, not sure but the point remains about their kids being good and their team being generally confident. Kids are usually not used to fix problems with teams that are struggling.

FWIW Klopp didn't win the cup because he brought on loads of kids, he won the cup because VDV is good at headers. And their kids are probably much, much better than ours anyway. And they're being introduced into a confident and successful team.

We did want to stay in the CL though, not just settle for Europa. And we should still be in if it wasn't for a horrific decision.

Bruno can't make a tackle, Miley is a kid, Longstaff can't get close enough to foul anyone, Joelinton is injured, Pope is injured, Wilson is injured. Think that takes care of almost every player who was involved in anything, except maybe Trippier. Maybe the bigger picture is that we've been so focused on crisis management this season that we haven't had a chance to impose ourselves and focus on our culture. Hard to say but usually shithousery works for teams who are feeling confident, assured in themselves and on top of their opponents.

Blackburn are a Championship team, we've been knocked out of cups by much worse teams than them. Given this is the most meaningful game left in the season I would go as strong as possible. Maybe not start Willock and Isak I guess, but I'd like to see them play at least a half. Hopefully Barnes is the one to grab a couple of goals for us.
