Can't really see Man Utd beating Chelsea and Inter... if they do then Fergie deserves a lot of credit for managing his very average set of available players.

Stoke City vs Newcastle United, Saturday 19th March, pre-match thread.

But he did say Andy Carroll is not for sale, when he was not in the position to do so. Howay man, what else could he say? He shouldn't have said anything. He is not in a position to make such claims. If he had said no comment the press would have gone with something like "Pardew in the dark over Carroll sale" or just used the fact he couldn't deny it to mean that he was confirming it. Either way he couldn't win, you can't really expect managers to be honest with the media all the time. And you can't get around that by not saying anything. -
That booking raises questions about temperament though.

I invented some new rhyming slang a while ago - "Jimmy Floyd" = "Annoyed". I thought it was amazing, but one of my friends from London said it didn't work for some reason.

It's easy to write off his bad personality as just being an annoyance as well, but then he goes and gets himself sent off and possibly costs City their place in Europe.
-
You might be right, I just haven't got that from what I've seen of him in England so far.

Balotelli has far too many issues to be worth bothering with. From what I've seen his play doesn't justify the negative aspects of his character.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

which carroll isn't very good at. he wins everything in the air but unless he's in the box he has little idea where he's putting it. will liverpool learn that outside the box he's better with the ball on the deck than many realise ? Any manager has a difficult job to stop players launching the ball forward when there's a player like Carroll in the team. It's an easy get-out ball for defenders and midfielders who can't decide what to do. -
Aye, but my left bollock is a better manager than Kinnear.

Because 'being linked' doesn't mean anything.

I've been whinging about this for weeks, you don't stand a chance mate.

I'd be very surprised. Also, what a weird question a couple of weeks after they've signed him. -

As long as our players aren't confused I'm not bothered TBH. -
I know what you're saying......but somehow I see the CL being the one point this season where they get found out. We've been fairly shit at times this year but have squeezed through. United always seem to get players back from injury when they play us - maybe this time will be different. Yeah, I don't think they can win the CL.
-
I would say that Man Utd can't go on defying the odds with the shit teams they keep putting out... but knowing Fergie they probably can.

Sprightly. The worst boots ever mind.
-
Why do people even interview or report on him?
-
At least he only almost got us relegated.

Well he didn't give Carroll his debut, for a start. Fair enough, I can't rememeber when Carroll's debut was. Not that it even matters who gave him his debut. No, it doesn't. Unless you'd just asked 'Is there anything actually wrong in that?', of course. I really meant was there anything that made Kinnear seem more of an idiot than we already knew. Anyway, the idea that the guy deserves any "credit" is farcical - I agree with that.
-
They have to write about something, that's the problem. There's so much interesting stuff about football... psychology, tactics, culture, player interviews, but they always just write the same pieces about transfer rumours they knocked up in about 5 minutes.
